Gwyneth Paltrow Offers Treats To Bailiffs In Ski Collision Trial, Motion Objected

Gwyneth Paltrow's security wanted to extend their gratitude to courtroom bailiffs during her Utah ski collision trial. Prior to testimony yesterday in Paltrow's trial, the actress’ attorney Steve Owens made a request to share "treats" with the courtroom staff. "I want to do this transparently… Private security for my client wanted to bring in treats for the bailiffs for how helpful they've been," Owens said before Judge Kent Holmberg. Paltrow is on trial, which began Tuesday, after being sued for $300,000 by Terry Sanderson, who claimed in 2019 that she seriously injured him during a crash on the beginner slopes at Deer Valley Resort in Park City in 2016. Sanderson's legal counsel objected to Owens' motion to bring in treats for the bailiffs. "Ok, there's an objection so thank you, but no thank you," Judge Holmberg said, adding, "If the parties decide to do that later, that's fine, too." It's unclear what treats were being offered, but the star has many offered on her lifestyle website Goop or her cookbooks, including "The Clean Plate: Eat, Reset, Heal" and "It's All Good."

Elton John Surprised To Learn True Inspiration Behind 'Rocket Man'

During a recent interview, Elton John discovered the true inspiration behind his 1972 song "Rocket Man," much to his surprise. Five years later, they released their first hit track, "Rocket Man," which Elton described as an easy song to write a melody for due to its spacious theme. It was during this interview that Taupin finally revealed his original source of inspiration for the track, which Elton had been previously unaware of. “It was actually a song inspired by Ray Bradbury from his book of science-fiction short stories called The Illustrated Man,” Taupin explained. “In that book, there was a story called The Rocket Man, which was about how astronauts in the future would become sort of an everyday job… so I kinda took that idea and ran with it.” To this, Elton responded: “Do you know, I never knew that.”

Here's Why Lady Gaga Won't Be Performing At Sunday's Oscars

Lady Gaga won’t be singing at Sunday’s Oscars. Oscars executive producer Glenn Weiss confirmed that the singer won’t perform her nominated song “Hold My Hand” from Top Gun: Maverick at Sunday’s show. Why? Gaga’s packed schedule. She’s too busy shooting her role opposite Joaquin Phoenix in the much-anticipated big-screen sequel Joker: Folie à Deux to prepare a proper performance. “We invited all five nominees,” Weiss told reporters during a virtual press conference. “We have a great relationship with Lady Gaga and her camp. She is in the middle of shooting a movie right now. Here, we are honoring the movie industry and what it takes to make a movie after a bunch of back and forth… It didn’t feel like she can get a performance to the caliber that we’re used to with her and that she is used to. So she is not going to perform on the show.”

Comic Mike Epps was discovered to have a loaded revolver and ammunition in his possession at the Indianapolis International Airport on Sunday. He was visiting the town to start a national comedy tour and was found carrying a Smith & Wesson .38-caliber firearm at a TSA checkpoint lane early in the morning. The gun was loaded with four rounds of Hornady .38 Special ammunition, but none were placed under the firing pin. The airport dispatch conducted a weapons check and the police kept the gun, but didn’t arrest the comedian. They also provided him with info on how to retrieve the firearm. The incident was reported to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office to decide whether or not to press charges.

Khan also expressed her disbelief at Adele's ranking at number 22 and Mary J. Blige's ranking at number 25, stating that the Rolling Stone editors must be blind and in need of hearing aids. She even went as far as to say that they must be the children of Helen Keller. Furthermore, Khan disagreed with Joan Baez's inclusion on the list at number 189, stating that while Baez was a good writer, she cannot sing.

Jussie Smollett Files Appeal Argument In Hate Crime Hoax Conviction

The legal team representing Jussie Smollett has filed an appeal brief, outlining their argument against the actor's conviction for orchestrating a hate crime hoax. According to the documents, the team argued that Smollett's "renewed prosecution" violated his due process rights, and that the judge's denial of the defense's motion for substitution of judge for cause was improper due to the judge's explicit bias towards Smollett. The brief also claimed that the trial court violated Smollett's due process rights by making "inappropriate comments" during cross-examination that impacted the jury's ability to provide an unbiased verdict. In 2021, a jury found Smollett guilty of five of the six charges of disorderly conduct against him after a two-week trial. Smollett had reported to Chicago police that he was the victim of a racist and homophobic attack in January 2019, but the investigation turned towards Smollett and he was later arrested on charges of orchestrating the attack and lying to police about it. Smollett's legal team had planned to appeal the verdict since the trial concluded in December 2021.
