The foiled terrorist plot at a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna earlier this month was intended “to kill a huge number, tens of thousands of people” including Americans, the deputy director of the CIA said. David S. Cohen, speaking at the Intelligence Summit outside Washington D.C., also revealed that the information used by Austrian police on August 7 to disrupt the plot was provided to the authorities by the CIA. “They were plotting to kill a huge number, tens of thousands of people at this concert, I am sure many Americans,” Cohen said. “The Austrians were able to make those arrests because the agency and our partners in the intelligence community provided them information about what this ISIS-connected group was planning to do.”

Ken Jennings has no intention of stepping away from his hosting duties on Jeopardy! despite rumors that he could be axed. Ken - who is speculated to possibly be replaced by SNL comedian Colin Jost - became the sole permanent host during the show's 40th season. However, after Jost was named the host for the spinoff Pop Culture Jeopardy! and following criticism from fans, rumors arose that Jennings could lose his role as host on the flagship series. A source recently told Closer Weekly that Ken is, “desperate to make it work and has no intention of leaving of his own accord,” in regards to his position on the show. “Ken's well aware of the noise and tittle-tattle, and privately he would acknowledge these are tough times - especially with Colin Jost coming on to host Pop Culture Jeopardy! and fans calling him awkward, which is hard to take.”

A New York federal judge ordered Martin Shkreli to surrender any copies of the one-of-a-kind Wu-Tang Clan album Once Upon a Time in Shaolin in response to a complaint from the record's new owner. Shkreli, known as "Pharma Bro," was forced to forfeit the album to the federal government as part of his conviction on securities fraud in 2017 and its new owner, the Cayman Island-based company PleasrDAO, has accused Shkreli of retaining digital copies and even playing it online for some listeners. PleasrDAO paid $4.75 million for the album and has asked U.S. District Court Judge Pamela Chen to order a preliminary injunction and for Shkreli to turn over all digital copies. Chen ordered him last month to stop streaming the album. She granted the request on Monday. Chen gave Shkreli until Friday to turn over his copies "in any form." He will also have to file an affidavit by Sept. 30 detailing who he might have given copies of the album and any money he made from any transaction. Shkreli bought the physical album for $2 million at auction in 2015. He was sentenced to seven years in prison after being convicted on charges on charges that he ran a Ponzi scheme from 2009 to 2014 and bilked investors out of $11 million after his company, Turing Pharmaceuticals, jacked up the price of the HIV medication Daraprim from $13.50 to $750 per tablet.

Despite Paramount+ previously announcing the end of Taylor Sheridan's hit show, Yellowstone, Deadline is reporting that negotiations are underway for a sixth season. Although sources emphasized that the deal is still up in the air, the upcoming episodes would focus on Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser, who play Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, following Kevin Costner‘s exit from the series.

Peacock has ordered the series PONIES. Emilia Clarke will star and executive produce. Set in 1977 Moscow, Clarke will play Bea, a secretary at the American Embassy. Bea and Twila become CIA operatives after their husbands are killed. Twila has not been cast yet. Bea speaks Russian as the daughter of immigrants, while Twila is from small-town America. Macklemore has cancelled his show in Dubai, scheduled for October 4. The rapper explained that the move was in protest over the United Arab Emirates' support for Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, a warring party in the country's civil war. Keanu Reeves has signed a contract with a Canadian hockey team more than 40 years after he was supposed to have a tryout. Reeves, who grew up in Toronto, signed a one-day contract with the Ontario Hockey League's Windsor Spitfires and autographed items, including a team jersey, that will be auctioned off to support the local branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association. Reeves, goalkeeper for his high school team, missed a tryout for the Spitfires when he was a teenager due to injury. He decided to pursue an acting career instead—and in one of his first roles, he played a goalie in 1986's Youngblood. Reeves signed the contract on Thursday when he was in town for a show with his band Dogstar. Spitfires general manager Bill Bowler said Keanu is a "down-to-earth great guy." Television has reportedly renewed the contracts of three original stars from the Apple TV+ comedy — Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift. Max announced an October premiere date for the Stephen King adaptation Salem's Lot on Friday. The streaming service didn’t specify the date in October. In the film, author Ben Mears (Lewis Pullman) returns to his hometown of Jerusalem's Lot to work on a new book. He discovers his hometown is now home to vampires. Paramount+ will launch its docuseries Nöthin’ But a Good Time: The Uncensored Story on September 17. It has also dropped the trailer for the series, which covers bands such as Guns N’ Roses, Poison, Quiet Riot and W.A.S.P. Based on Tom Beaujour and Richard Bienstock’s book Nöthin’ But a Good Time: The Uncensored History of the ’80s Hard Rock Explosion, the three-part series is directed by Jeff Tremaine, who directed Jackass and Motley Crue movie The Dirt. Gordon Ramsay is cooking up his first show for Netflix. He’ll star in a docuseries that will chronicle his plans to open culinary experiences in London’s second tallest building, 22 Bishopsgate. Cameras have also been granted access to Ramsay’s family, including his wife Tana, as he juggles home life with professional commitments. Being Gordon Ramsay will film over a period of nine months. Netflix didn’t reveal a premiere date, but the culinary venture launches in February 2025.

Lady Gaga has revealed more details about the forthcoming Joker: Folie A Deux and the directions it takes. Gaga stars as Harleen “Lee” Quinzel – a version of Harley Quinn – opposite Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck and the Joker. The sequel to 2019’s Joker will be out October 4, five years after the original film came out. It is already known that the sequel will feature musical numbers, including classic tracks like ‘Get Happy’, ‘For Once in My Life’ and ‘That’s Life’, but Gaga has elaborated more on the film’s multi-genre approach. “Todd [Philips, director] took a very big swing with this whole concept and with the script, giving the sequel to Joker this audacity and complexity,” she told Variety. “There’s music, there’s dance, it’s a drama, it’s also a courtroom drama, it’s a comedy, it’s happy, it’s sad. It’s a testament to [Todd] as a director, that he would rather be creative than just tell a traditional story of love.”

ABC‘s Will Trent will have a new ADA in Season 3 to be played by Gina Rodriguez. The high-seas docu-series “Wicked Tuna” has been canceled after 13 seasons on National Geographic. The show about fishermen from Gloucester, Mass., has aired on the network since 2012. The news broke as Nat Geo has had its staff cut due to layoffs across its parent company Disney Entertainment Television. The series aired more than 200 episodes and inspired the spinoff, Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks, which included eight seasons from 2014-21.

Kevin Costner's epic western Horizon: An American Saga -- Chapter 1 will make its debut on Max Aug. 23. Costner wrote, directed and starred in the film, which is intended to be the first installment of a trilogy. The cast includes Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Giovanni Ribisi, Abbey Lee, Will Patton, Jena Malone, Michael Rooker, Danny Huston, Luke Wilson, among others. The film "explores the lure of the Old West and how it was won -- and lost -- through the blood, sweat and tears of many," a synopsis from the streamer said. Joel McHale has signed on to narrate the sports documentary The Dawgfather: The Legacy of Don James. The doc will debut at this year’s Gig Harbor Film Festival. The story follows the life and career of Ohio football coach Don James, who McHale played under at the University of Washington. The official synopsis reads: The Dawgfather: The Legacy of Don James explores the impact of a humble coach from Ohio whose influence on college football and his players extended far beyond the field.

Netflix has renewed Guy Ritchie’s series The Gentlemen for a second season. Stars Theo James, Kaya Scodelario and Daniel Ings will be back to reprise their roles for the eight-episode second installment of the series, created by Ritchie based on his movie and produced by Miramax Television. Ritchie, who earned an Emmy nomination for his directing work in Season 1, will return to direct.

Frozen 3 will be out the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, Nov. 24, 2027. On Friday night at Disney’s presentation, it was indicated that the threequel would open in 2027. The first Frozen opened limited in one theater for five days in 2013 before blasting out wide on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Frozen 2 opened on the Friday before Thanksgiving in 2019. Together the two movies racked up $2.7 billion.

George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino appear to be at each other’s throats. In an interview with GQ to mark his upcoming Apple TV+ movie Wolfs, Clooney revealed that he is irritated with Tarantino, his former co-star and director of Pulp Fiction. Four never-before-seen episodes of The Simpsons are headed exclusively to Disney+ this year, including a Christmas-themed double episode. Additionally, the 18-episode Season 35 of the veteran animated comedy, which wrapped its run on Fox in May, will debut on the streamer on October 2, Disney announced at D23 on Saturday night. The four exclusive Simpsons episodes for Disney+ are titled “The Past and the Furious,” “Yellow Planet,” and “O C’mon All Ye Faithful” (the double episode). This October, Disney+ will also debut a new Halloween-themed Simpsons short. These are the first full-length Simpsons episodes produced exclusively for Disney+; the series has previously produced original shorts for the streamer, which houses the show’s library.

Wolfs will start streaming on Apple TV+ even sooner than we thought. Pitt and Clooney star as a pair of professional fixers who are both hired to cover up the same high-profile crime. When “the two ‘lone wolves’ are forced to work together, they find their night spiraling out of control in ways that neither one of them expected,” per the official synopsis.

After Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris named Tim Walz her running mate for the 2024 elections, social media called on Steve Martin to play the vice presidential hopeful this fall on Saturday Night Live. The actor is now weighing in on social media after he was collectively cast to parody Walz on the NBC show. “I just learned that Tim Walz wants to go on the road with Marty Short,” Martin posted on Threads after fans hoped he would play the Minnesota governor. CNN debated who should play Walz on SNL, citing Vanity Fair, which suggested Martin, Al Franken, Jim Gaffigan, and Jim O’Heir.

Netflix just announced that Adam Sandler: Love You, will premiere on the streamer on August 27. The show was taped at the Nocturne Theater in Glendale. First announced back in February, it reunites Sandler with his Uncut Gems director Josh Safdie, who with Love You made his comedy special directorial debut.

MTV has revealed the nominees for the 2024 VMAs. Taylor Swift leads the pack with 10 noms, including Video of the Year, in which she could break her own record as the only artist to ever three-peat and win five times in the category. Daisy Ridley opened up about her health and revealed she was diagnosed with Graves’ disease last year. The Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker star said in a new interview that she initially attributed the symptoms of the disease to playing a stressful role in Magpie. “I thought, ‘Well, I’ve just played a really stressful role; presumably that’s why I feel poorly,'” Ridley told Women’s Health. Ridley said that some of her symptoms included racing heart rate, weight loss, and fatigue. The doctor told Ridley that Graves’ was a feeling of “tired but weird.” “It was funny, I was like, ‘Oh, I just thought I was annoyed at the world,’ but turns out everything is functioning so quickly, you can’t chill out,” Ridley said. Being diagnosed with Graves’ disease led Ridley to make some dietary changes and go gluten-free, adding, “I am not super strict about it, but generally cutting down on gluten makes me feel better.” “I’ve always been health conscious, and now I’m trying to be more well-being conscious,” Ridley added.

JB Smoove (Curb Your Enthusiasm) will produce a comedic animated series based on the video game High On Life. The actor, who launched his production outfit Alternate Side Productions last year, hasn’t officially been cast in the development project but reports say there’s a good chance he will. High On Life is a comedic first-person shooter game with action-adventure and Metroidvania elements. It takes place in a science fiction world which features talking guns and sees humanity’s fate in jeopardy after an alien cartel discovers that humans are the most potent drug in the cosmos. Smoove is one of the key voice cast in the video game, which has also featured the voices of Jack Black, Susan Sarandon and Thomas Middleditch.

Leonardo DiCaprio's yacht day in Sardinia didn't go according to plan; he was enjoying a dip in the Mediterranean Sea with his girlfriend, Vittoria Ceretti, as they jetted around the crystal blue water in goggles. The fun didn't last long, as Leo soon emerged from the water and called out for help regarding a mark just below his butt. Clearly suffering from a jellyfish sting or a bite of some sort, Leo jumped beneath the yacht's outdoor shower where his model girlfriend took a closer look at the wound. The yacht's crew rallied to treat Leo’s injury, as they sprayed it clean and dried it with a towel. Thankfully, the sting didn't appear to be too serious.

Jenna Ortega is in final talks to join JJ Abrams’ secret untitled movie at Warner Bros. Jenna will star opposite Glen Powell, who is also finalizing his deal. Few details are known about the movie, other than it’s not a time travel movie. Abrams wrote the script and his Bad Robot is producing.

Zac Efron spoke out after being taken to a hospital in Spain following an incident in a swimming pool at a villa in Ibiza on Friday night. He took to his Instagram Stories yesterday to share a photo of himself working out shirtless, lifting barbells while lying on an exercise ball. “Happy and Healthy, thanks for the well wishes,” he captioned the post. Zac’s message comes after sources revealed to TMZ that the actor was found inside the swimming pool by two people working at the villa who pulled him out of the water. His rep confirmed to TMZ that Efron was hospitalized as a precautionary measure following the minor incident and is recovering just fine. He was released from the hospital Saturday morning.

Guinness World Records announced last week that Wesley Snipes took two titles when he reprised his role as Blade in his recent Deadpool & Wolverine cameo after originating the character in his first 1998 solo movie outing. With his return coming nearly 26 years after first playing the half-vampire “daywalker” (aka Eric Brooks), Snipes beats out Deadpool & Wolverine co-star Hugh Jackman for Longest Career as a Live-Action Marvel Character. After Jackman first played Wolverine (aka Logan) in 2000’s X-Men, he was expected to beat out Patrick Stewart‘s Professor Charles Xavier for the title with his latest performance. With more than 19 years since his last appearance in Blade: Trinity (2004), Snipes also claims Longest Gap Between Character Appearances in Marvel Films. Alfred Molina previously held the record with his return as Doctor Octopus in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), 17 years after Spider-Man 2 (2004). Blade is scheduled for a Nov. 7, 2025 premiere.

The next big Western drama from Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan promises to feature some serious Hollywood star power. A spinoff of the original Kevin Costner series is close to finalizing deals with Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell, according to reports. The two are in talks to star alongside Suits vet Patrick J. Adams. The new show, initially called 2024 but now titled The Madison, is rumored to center on wealthy matriarch Stacy Clyburn and her family, per the outlet. Following the tragic deaths of her husband and brother-in-law in a plane crash, the Clyburn family leaves New York City and relocates to Montana. Production on the spinoff is set to begin later this month in Montana, New York, and Texas. It’s expected to premiere next year.

Tom Cruise is reportedly planning a big stunt for the Closing Ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics. According to reports, Cruise will literally “drop in” when the Olympic flag is handed over to the 2028 host city, Los Angeles. Sources tell TMZ that Cruise will rappel down from the top of Stade de France, land on the stadium field, and then proceed to carry the official Olympic flag. However, the actor may use a stunt double for the rappelling part. The Closing Ceremony will take place on Aug. 11 at 7 p.m.

Don Lemon filed a lawsuit against Elon Musk and X over the cancellation of a partnership on the platform. Lemon was going to host exclusive content on X as he launched a new show earlier this year, but Musk quickly canceled the partnership after he did a sit down interview with the former CNN host. According to the complaint, filed in Superior Court in San Francisco, Musk sent a text to Lemon’s agent with the words, “contract is canceled.” The lawsuit claims that “contrary to the promises and representations made to Lemon, once Defendants were enriched and gained the benefits of using Lemon’s name, likeness, identity, and reputation, they reneged on their express agreement with Lemon and have failed to compensate him, citing to false pretenses for their breach of the partnership agreement. This breach came after Lemon spent considerable time, effort, and resources in creating exclusive content for” X.

The reboot of the popular sci-fi franchise Battlestar Galactica is no longer set up at Peacock. First announced as being in development at the NBCUniversal streamer in 2019, the new incarnation of Battlestar Galactica never got to a green light but remained in development. The reboot will now be shopped to other platforms by its studio, Peacock’s NBCUniversal sibling UCP.

Carrie Underwood has replaced Katy Perry on “American Idol.” Underwood, of course, rose to fame for winning the fourth season of the show, which then aired on Fox before moving to ABC. She’s expected to sit alongside Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan on the panel for Season 25.

Squid Game is returning to Netflix for Season 2 on December 26 – and the streamer revealed that its biggest ever show will conclude with its third season. The second season of the Korean drama series returns with some familiar faces and some new ones and also will return for Season 3 in 2025, marking the end of the hit series. Squid Game, which launched on September 17, 2021, became a huge hit, clocking over 1.65B viewing hours in 28 days and reaching 111 million accounts, becoming Netflix’s first series to surpass 100 million members at launch.
