Real Reason Justin Baldoni Is Suing Blake Lively And Ryan Reynolds For $400 Million

Justin Baldoni is suing Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds for $400 million because the hefty sum is said to be close to their combined net worth – and he wants to bankrupt them, an insider has claimed. The actor is currently embroiled in a bitter legal saga with Lively and and the Deadpool actor following their film It Ends With US, in which they played a couple whose marriage was marred by domestic violence. While many have questioned why Baldoni is going after the specific sum, a source told DailyMail that he deduced the figure from Lively and Reynolds' reported net worth. They said Baldoni has already lost out on thousands since being dropped by his agent, and that if the couple were successful in their lawsuit, he could be left penniless. “Justin Baldoni chose $400 million because of the simple reason that Blake and Ryan's combined net worth is believed to be around that figure,” the source said.

Michael Jackson Biopic Needs Extensive Reshoots

The production of Michael, a biopic about Michael Jackson, could face significant delays due to issues with its third act. The film, which is being made with the cooperation of Jackson's family and stars his nephew Jaafar Jackson as the lead, reportedly struggles with its depiction of the abuse allegations made by then-13-year-old Jordan Chandler. Chandler testified that Jackson had engaged in "sexual offensive contacts," though Jackson was never charged, and a $23 million out-of-court settlement was reached. The portrayal of these events has led to complications in the film’s development.

This truly is a targeted ICE mission, because they’re not sweeping neighborhoods like people are trying to imply.” He said that ICE has identified 270 “high value targets.” “These are known criminals and terrorists,” McGraw said. “We’re talking about murderers, child traffickers, child rapists. We’re talking about bad actors, both in the countries they’ve come from, and since they’ve been here in the United States.” McGraw’s Merit Street Media planned live coverage on its app.

The Right Reverend Mariann Edgar Budde said she wanted her sermon to, “counter the narrative that is so divisive and polarizing in which people are being harmed,” during an appearance on The View yesterday. She declined to address his calls for an apology, but said she would consider a one-on-one meeting if the invitation came from the president personally. Budde added that she has a great amount of respect for Trump's office and promised to remain respectful if a meeting occurred. The Bishop of Washington spoke out after she used a prayer service to make an emotional plea to the president, stating that many in the marginalized groups she named “fear for their lives.” On Truth Social, Trump demanded an apology and called her a “Radical Left hardline Trump hater.” “She brought her church into the World of politics in a very ungracious way,” Trump wrote. “She was nasty in tone, and not compelling or smart.”

Kid Rock Awkwardly Flirts With BBC Journalist On Inauguration Day

Kid Rock made headlines for a flirtatious moment during an interview with BBC News presenter Caitríona Perry while discussing the inauguration of Donald Trump. The singer, a vocal supporter of Trump, told Perry she "sounded sexy" and even suggested they go skiing together. During the interview, Perry asked about Rock’s plans for the day, which also happened to be Martin Luther King Jr. Day. He mentioned celebrating "the rebirth of America" now that his work was done. The conversation then took a playful turn as Rock inquired about Perry’s location and her plans, to which she described being bundled up in full ski gear due to the cold. Rock responded with: "I love to go skiing. You sound sexy, you want to go with me?" Perry, visibly caught off guard, politely deflected, saying, “We won’t get into that right here.” She then wrapped up the segment, thanking him for his time and moving on with her broadcast day.

TikTok Restores Service After Donald Trump Promises No Penalties, A 90-Day Reprieve

TikTok restores service to users of the app yesterday after it said incoming president Donald Trump provided “necessary clarity” that it would not face penalties. A law upheld by the Supreme Court Friday called for a ban or sale of TikTok by yesterday. The app, which is owned by China’s ByteDance, preemptively shut itself down in the U.S. late Saturday. Trump takes office today and said yesterday morning that he would issue an executive order for a 90-day extension. “In agreement with our service providers, TikTok is in the process of restoring service,” TikTok said just now in a post on X. “We thank President Trump for providing the necessary clarity and assurance to our service providers that they will face no penalties providing TikTok to over 170 million Americans and allowing over 7 million small businesses to thrive. It’s a strong stand for the First Amendment and against arbitrary censorship. We will work with President Trump on a long-term solution that keeps TikTok in the United States.” TikTok’s move seems to apply to existing TikTok users for now as the app still does not appear to be available for new downloads on the Apple or Google app stores.

Stephen King Leads Oscars Boycott As He Urges Ceremony To Cancel

Author Stephen King has called for the cancellation of the 2025 Oscars amid the Los Angeles wildfires, which have killed at least 25 people. As two major blazes continue to burn across Altadena and Pacific Palisades, King revealed that he is opposed to the Academy Awards continuing as usual while Southern California battles one of its most destructive natural disasters in history. Out of respect for the thousands of heartbroken families that lost their homes and businesses or are displaced due to evacuation orders, King took to Bluesky to reveal he was “not voting in the Oscars this year.” “IMHO [in my humble opinion] they should cancel them. No glitz with Los Angeles on fire,” the novelist wrote on the platform, which he joined after recently deleting X.

Donald Trump Says Jon Voight, Mel Gibson and Sylvester Stallone Will Be His 'Special Ambassadors' To Hollywood

Donald Trump said that longtime supporters Jon Voight, Mel Gibson and Sylvester Stallone will be his “special ambassadors” to Hollywood. Trump wrote on Truth Social yesterday: “It is my honor to announce Jon Voight, Mel Gibson, and Sylvester Stallone, to be Special Ambassadors to a great but very troubled place, Hollywood, California. They will serve as Special Envoys to me for the purpose of bringing Hollywood, which has lost much business over the last four years to Foreign Countries, BACK—BIGGER, BETTER, AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE! These three very talented people will be my eyes and ears, and I will get done what they suggest. It will again be, like The United States of America itself, The Golden Age of Hollywood!” It’s unclear what kind of activity the three actors will do in the incoming administration.

David Schwimmer Reveals He Served Rod Steward Divorce Papers

David Schwimmer revealed on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert that he once served divorce papers to Rod Stewart during a summer job in his university days. Schwimmer said he worked as a process server for his mother, who was a divorce lawyer, and described the job as involving "James Bond"-like tactics—though he humorously admitted he wasn’t quite that stealthy. Schwimmer recounted how he delivered papers to the singer, saying, “I don’t even know if he knows. I don’t think he knows.” Colbert quipped, “He knows now.” Rod Stewart, who separated from his first wife, Alana Stewart, in 1984, has since had two other marriages: to Rachel Hunter (1990–2006) and his current wife, Penny Lancaster, whom he married in 2007.

Jon Hamm Named Hasty Pudding's 2025 Man Of The Year

Jon Hamm has been named the 2025 Man of the Year by Harvard University's Hasty Pudding Theatricals. This accolade will be presented on January 31 during a celebratory roast, after which Hamm is set to enjoy the troupe's latest production, "101 Damnations." Producer Willow Woodward humorously commented, "Let's hope our roast doesn't give him any heart palpitations—he's had enough drama with that," referencing the dramatic fate of Hamm's character in the series Landman. Harvard's Hasty Pudding Theatricals, established in 1844, is lauded as the world's third-oldest active theatrical organization. The group honors individuals who have significantly influenced the entertainment industry.

Oscars 2025 In Jeopardy Of Being Cancelled For The First Time In 96 Years

The Oscars may be canceled for the first time in its 96-year history due to the wildfires raging across Los Angeles. The 97th Academy Awards face an unprecedented crisis as official Academy Award committees, led by A-listers including Tom Hanks, Meryl Streep, Steven Spielberg, and Emma Stone, are monitoring the situation daily. A secret contingency strategy is reportedly in place for the March 2 awards ceremony to be called off, as per the U.S. Sun. There's a growing concern that proceeding with the show could be seen as tone-deaf given the recent destruction. “The board’s main concern at this time is to not look like they are celebrating while many Los Angelenos are dealing with heartbreak and unimaginable loss,” an insider told the publication. “And certainly, even if the fires went out in the next week, the reality is that the city is still hurting and will be dealing with that pain for months,” the insider added.

Tommy Lee Criticizes Artists Plugging Albums And Tours During LA Fires

Tommy Lee doesn’t like artists engaging in self-promotion while the Los Angeles wildfires continue to rage, it seems. The Mötley Crüe drummer let his opinions be known in an Instagram post shared on Monday, where he took aim at those who have continued to plug upcoming products and events while the tragedy continues to unfold. “Makes me f—ing sick to see most people just caring on a [sic] posting on lame a** social media!” Lee wrote. “Guys right now nobody gives a flying f*** when your record drops or the next concert is when so many people are in the middle of one of the biggest disasters of all time! I get that some comic relief is always need but Jesus C***st leave it all alone and maybe just stop and see who needs help if you can.”

Christina Applegate Slams People Relishing In The Destruction Of Hollywood From Fires

Actress and Los Angeles resident Christina Applegate is upset that some people seem to be relishing in the devastation the California fires have caused for celebrities that live in the area. In a new episode of her "MeSsy" podcast with fellow actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Applegate slammed anyone suggesting it was "good" that Hollywood was suffering. "There's not really words for it," Sigler said of the destruction to the city. "You know what I have words for? Um, f---ing people who are saying that it's, you know, good. It's Hollywood and those stupid Hollywood people," Applegate countered. "Like, you've gotta be kidding me." "I think that people that don't live here, just feel like just celebrities are walking around, running everything," she continued. "We're like a portion – we're a small portion of the city. I mean, this is a city of people that are working their a--es off at fast-food chains or, you know, f---ing builders and painters, and it's [a] myriad of groups of humans here."

Whoopi Goldberg Supports Carrie Underwood's Decision To Sing At Trump Inauguration

Yesterday on The View, the ladies talked about Carrie Underwood‘s announcement that she’ll be performing “America The Beautiful” at Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony on January 20, though all of the cohosts defended her right to do so. “I stand behind her,” said Whoopi Goldberg. “If I believe I have the right to make up my mind to go perform some place, I believe [she has] the same right.” Goldberg then added that she’s not really interested in the event. She said she wouldn’t be watching - and alluded to the day’s other significance, Martin Luther King Day.

Paris Hilton Launches Emergency Fund To Support Families Impacted By LA Fires

Paris Hilton is stepping up to help those impacted by the devastating Los Angeles wildfires. On Friday, she announced on social media that she’s launching an emergency fund through her nonprofit 11:11 Media Impact to support families who have lost their homes in the fires. “My heart is with everyone impacted by the devastating fires here in LA,” Hilton wrote on Instagram. “While I’ve lost my Malibu home, my thoughts are with the countless families who have lost so much more — their homes, cherished keepsakes, the communities they loved, and their sense of stability.” Paris said she’s personally contributing $100,000 to the fund and will match additional donations up to $100,000. “I’m asking others to join me in doing our part to support these families,” she wrote.

Kim Kardashian Calls For Pay Raise For Incarcerated Firefighters

Kim Kardashian is advocating for higher pay for incarcerated firefighters, who have been assisting in combating Southern California wildfires. In an Instagram story, she praised the nearly 900 inmates working "around the clock" to cut fire lines and slow the spread, calling them heroes risking their lives for minimal compensation. Currently, incarcerated firefighters in California earn $5.80 to $10.24 per day, with an additional $1 per hour during active emergencies—far below the state’s $16.50 minimum wage. Kardashian urged Gov. Gavin Newsom to raise their pay, asking him to break a four-decade precedent and honor their contributions.

But the LAPD didn’t charge him with arson as they said there was not probable cause.

Mel Gibson Slams Gavin Newsom Amid LA Fires

Mel Gibson slammed California Governor Gavin Newsom in a rant on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast amid the LA fires. The actor took aim at the Democrat politician - who had a shocking reaction to a woman who chased him down looking for wildfire answers - during an appearance yesterday on the podcast. Gibson said: “I think Newsom said ‘I’m gonna take care of the forest and maintain the forest and do all that kinda stuff"—he didn’t do anything.’ Rogan chimed in that he believes that the California Governor had put tax dollars toward supporting the homeless population instead of fire prevention. The actor agreed before joking: “I think all our tax dollars probably went to Gavin’s hair gel.”

The pain you have caused !!” His claims went viral with fans pledging their support to him and others slamming him for spreading panic. "The Price Is Right," "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Pause Tapings Amid LA Fires

As the LA fires continue to rage across the Pacific Palisades and in Pasadena, the TV world is suspending production on some shows as a result of safety concerns. CBS’ The Price Is Right and ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! are among the unscripted shows that are pausing production, according to reports. The Price Is Right generally shoots at least three episodes per day at Haven Studios in Glendale, California, which is right in the midst of the evacuation zone related to the Eaton Fire, which has burned over 2,000 acres and led to a number of fatalities. Jimmy Kimmel Live! shoots at the El Capitan on Hollywood Blvd in the middle of the city. The ABC show aired a repeat last night.

Kevin O'Leary Reveals He Asked Trump To Stop Trolling Canada

“Shark Tank” star Kevin O’Leary, who previously mounted a bid to serve as the prime minister of Canada, told Fox News’ Bill Hemmer that Donald Trump didn’t heed his advice to “stand down” on trolling Canada yesterday. On Monday, Trump reacted to the resignation of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau by declaring that “Many people in Canada LOVE being the 51st State.” On America’s Newsroom, Kevin said: “So I was in Mar-a-Lago over the weekend. I had a few moments with the president-elect, and I asked him if he would consider the fact that Trudeau on Saturday, when we were talking, the rumors were that he was going to resign — in fact, he did – I said, ‘Well, why not stand down on Canada for the next couple of months while they elect a new leader like you were elected with a four year mandate,'” replied O’Leary.

Vin Diesel Breaks Silence On Dwayne Johnson Feud Rumors In Post

Vin Diesel has broken his silence on feud rumors with Dwayne Johnson which were reignited at Sunday's Golden Globes. Diesel and Johnson had an awkward moment during the show, years after they clashed on the set of 2017's The Fate of the Furious. The two starred in Fast Five, Furious 6 and The Fate of the Furious, though Johnson made headlines for a post calling out one of his co-stars he did not name, though it was later confirmed to be Diesel. Their beef resulted in Johnson essentially leaving the main franchise, moving on to film the spin-off Hobbs & Shaw with Jason Statham. When Diesel went to present the box office achievement award, he looked down and said, “Hey Dwayne,” as Johnson just smiled. Yesterday, Diesel took to Instagram to share a throwback snap with his former co-star, writing: “All love… Always…”

The View Co-Host Sunny Hostin's Surgeon Husband Accused Of Insurance Fraud In Bombshell Lawsuit

Dr. Emmanuel "Manny" Hostin, the husband of The View co-host Sunny Hostin, is facing accusations of federal insurance fraud as part of a massive RICO case in New York involving nearly 200 defendants. The orthopedic surgeon is accused of receiving kickbacks for performing surgeries and fraudulently billing American Transit, an insurance company covering taxi, Uber, and Lyft drivers. The lawsuit alleges Hostin knowingly provided fraudulent medical services, including arthroscopic surgeries, and disguised kickbacks as dividends or other payments. Hostin’s attorney, Daniel Thwaites, has denied the allegations, calling the lawsuit meritless and an intimidation tactic by a struggling insurance carrier.

Zendaya And Tom Holland Are Engaged

It was the question on everyone's mind at Sunday's Golden Globes: Are Zendaya and Tom Holland engaged? According to reports, the answer is yes.

The 28-year-old actress sparked engagement speculation when she wore a diamond ring on that finger. Inside the ballroom at the Beverly Hilton, the Challengers star made no effort to hide what was on her left hand. She was pictured seemingly showing friends, like The Bear star Ayo Edebiri, her new hardware.

According to TMZ, which was first to report Holland and Zendaya's engagement, the actor proposed over the holidays at one of her homes "in a very intimate setting." The Spider-Man co-stars have been together since at least 2021. People magazine later confirmed the two were engaged.

Zendaya was decked out in Bulgari jewelry at the Globes, according to a press release, but there was no credit for the sparkler on her left hand. People magazine reported that the ring appears to be a Jessica McCormack diamond that is listed in the engagement rings section of the company website.

If Zendaya's ring is the one speculated about online, it's 5.02 carats and is a Georgian-style cut in 18k white-and-yellow gold. The brand posted about actress-filmmaker Zoë Kravitz wearing its jewelry to the Golden Globes, but there was no mention of Zendaya's hardware. Yahoo Entertainment contacted the designer but did not immediately receive a response. A rep for the actress did not comment.

Los Angeles Times reporter Amy Kaufman, herself recently engaged, had an interesting interaction with the Dune star at the Globes when it came to the supposed engagement ring.

“As Zendaya exited the ballroom, a recently engaged Times reporter held up her left ring finger and pointed at it,” Kaufman wrote on Sunday. “The actor responded by flashing her own bling on her left hand, doing a sort of jazz-fingers motion.”

"Are you engaged?” the Los Angeles Times asked. According to the report, Zendaya "smiled coyly and shrugged her shoulders mysteriously."

Zendaya and Holland have starred in three Spider-Man films together. However, they do not walk red carpet events with each other if they are not related to those movies, hence his absence on Sunday night.

"It’s not my moment, it's her moment, and if we go together, it’s about us," Holland recently told Men's Health.

Neither Holland nor Zendaya has made a public statement about their relationship status. A rep for Holland did not respond to Yahoo's request for comment.

Johnny Depp Speaks Out About Online Scammers Pretending to Be Him

Johnny Depp is warning about ongoing social media scams targeting his fan base.

The actor, 61, wished his followers on Instagram a "Happy New Year" on Monday, Jan. 6, while also alerting fans about people impersonating him online and soliciting money.

"Sadly, it has been brought to my attention that online scammers are intensifying their efforts to target my fans and supporters," wrote Depp. "As part of their tactics, they create multiple, deceptive social media and email accounts impersonating me and members of my team."

Depp explained that modern artificial intelligence technology is able to "create the illusion of my face and voice" so the "scammers may look and sound just like the real me."

"But, neither I, nor my team, will ask you for money or your personal information," he added.

Gizmodo published a report in December 2024 that 197 complaints were made to the Federal Trade Commission in 2024 about scammers posing as Depp. One person from Alabama reportedly lost $350,000 after being targeted, for example, and others listed $200,000 and $175,000 lost.

The actor, who has 28.5 million followers on Instagram, said his team is "actively working to combat these illicit schemes" and clarified which verified accounts are his official ones on InstagramFacebook and TikTok. (He's not on X, Snapchat or Discord, he said.)

Depp further clarified, "I do not offer paid meetings, phone calls, club memberships, or fan cards. If you are ever asked for any money for a meeting, call, membership, or fan card, it is a scam."

Additionally, "I do not interact directly with fans on any social media platforms, via email, or via chat-based platforms like Telegram, WhatsApp, Signal or Zangi. Again, neither myself, my team, my agent, nor my family will ever contact you on my behalf asking for money or your personal information."

Back in June 2022, Depp issued a warning to fans about imposter accounts "pretending to be me" for scamming purposes.

Several celebrities have spoken out in recent months to warn of fraudulent accounts claiming to be them, including Whoopi GoldbergTom HanksBrad Pitt and more.

The Movies We Can't Wait To See In 2025

After a year filled with animated inner emotionsmutantsaliensgladiators and witches, the new year will bring a crop of new (or, newly revisited) movies to choose from, as always.

Many upcoming films are sequels, reboots and franchise extensions, which can be chalked up to Hollywood’s penchant for playing it safe with known properties, but it’s also a testament to our collective desire to see where things go next for some of our most beloved characters and worlds.

While by no means exhaustive, here is a collection of some of the big movies to look out for in 2025:

‘Back In Action’

It’s all in the title with this one, a Netflix spy movie marking the “return” of two beloved stars – Cameron Diaz, who had stepped away from the Hollywood feature film limelight for about ten years, and Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx, who is back after some health problems. The pair previously teamed up for 2014’s musical “Annie.” “Back in Action” will start streaming on January 17.

After a relatively light year of content – with two welcome 2024 additions, in the movie sphere with “Deadpool & Wolverine” and on television with the deliciously witchy “Agatha All Along” – Marvel is beefing up again, bringing three new films to the MCU in 2025: “Captain America: Brave New World” (a.k.a. Cap’n America 4) in February, “Thunderbolts” in May and “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” out on July 25. The latter of these stars Pedro Pascal, “Stranger Things” breakout Joseph Quinn, “The Bear’s” Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Vanessa Kirby, and amounts to the third big studio effort to bring this super-powered quartet to cinematic life (the first effort produced two movies, in 2005 and 2007, with a mostly ill-received reboot in 2015 with Miles Teller and Kate Mara).

‘Superman’

Over on the other side of the comic book pond, James Gunn is getting ready to launch his version of the DC Universe in bombastic fashion with “Superman,” previously titled “Superman: Legacy,” starring David Corenswet and “Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” Rachel Brosnahan. This month’s teaser trailer previewed some drama and Clark Kent’s little (super)dog, too. “Superman” flies into theaters on July 11, two weeks ahead of “Fantastic Four.” (“Superman” is produced by DC Films, which like CNN is owned by Warner Bros. Discovery.)

It’s been six years since visionary Korean director Bong Joon Ho wowed audiences with his Oscar-winning “Parasite.” His followup movie “Mickey 17” is finally coming in April after several delays. The film, which stars Robert Pattinson, looks to be a somewhat irreverent sci-fi comedy that nonetheless tackles some dark and heavy themes, following an “expendable” clone-type being who is tasked with a dangerous mission in outer space. “Mickey 17” docks in theaters on April 18. (The movie is a Warner Bros. Pictures release. The studio, like CNN, is part of Warner Bros. Discovery.)

‘Jurassic World: Rebirth’

Speaking of sequels, this latest entry in the ever-expanding “Jurassic Park” dino-verse is getting points solely thanks to the cast, starring Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey, fresh off some “Wicked” success. “Jurassic World: Rebirth” is due on July 2.

‘How To Train Your Dragon’

From dinosaurs to dragons. Universal and DreamWorks are taking a tip from Disney and reimagining one of their own top-performing animated franchises, which (unbelievably) first came on the scene 15 years ago. The new movie looks to be a faithful live-action adaptation of the first film, based on the book by Cressida Cowell. “How to Train Your Dragon” soars into theaters June 13.

Speaking of big studio efforts to bring older properties back to cinematic life, this “Wolf Man” – not to be confused with 2010’s “The Wolfman” starring Benicio Del Toro – is an update to Universal’s classic monster movie from 1941, this time with “Girls” and “Poor Things” star Christopher Abbott in the hirsute titular role. “Wolf Man” crawls into theaters on January 17.

After the extended success of “Cobra Kai,” which started out on YouTube before finding new life on Netflix, the franchise returns to the big screen just over 40 years after Ralph Macchio first did the crane kick in the original 1984 classic. Jackie Chan is back in the sensei-like role of Mr. Han, a role he first portrayed in the 2010 reboot opposite Jayden Smith. The titular “kid” this time will be played by up-and-coming star Ben Wang. “Legends” hits theaters May 30.

‘Paddington in Peru’

After the blistering success of 2017’s “Paddington 2” (99% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is incredibly rare and impressive for a kid’s movie sequel), it was only a matter of time before we got this threequel, finding the charming stuffed bear Paddington in, well, Peru. Hugh Bonneville, Ben Whishaw and Imelda Staunton are all back for the ride, with Emily Mortimer joining the fun. “Paddington in Peru” comes to theaters on February 14.

The second part of this year’s biggest movie musical event is slated to fly into theaters almost one full year to the day after Part 1 collectively wowed us. The second installment of the cinematic adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, which in turn was adapted from the 1995 Gregory Maguire novel, has been subtitled “For Good” in a nod to one of the show’s original songs. The sequel will catch up with now-estranged friends Elphaba and Glinda as they struggle to find their place in the big and wicked world of Oz. “Wicked: For Good” premieres in theaters on November 21, 2025.

Justin Baldoni Sues New York Times For $250M Over Blake Lively story

One of the biggest stories to rock Hollywood in 2024 shows no signs of slowing down: Justin Baldoni has filed a $250 million lawsuit against the New York Times for their Dec. 20 story titled, "'We Can Bury Anyone': Inside a Hollywood Smear Machine." The article detailed Blake Lively's allegations against Baldoni and others over alleged sexual harassment she endured while filming It Ends With Us.

Attorney Bryan Freedman filed the lawsuit on behalf of 10 plaintiffs, including Baldoni. This comes after Lively filed a complaint with the California Civil Rights Department on Dec. 20, the same day the Times story was published, and accused Baldoni, the star and director of their hit film, of sexual harassment, retaliation, intentional infliction of emotional distress and more in a bombshell 80-page document. She claims that she suffered harm to her reputation as the result of a smear campaign. On Tuesday, Lively formally filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, his public relations team and film studio.

In a statement, Freedman told Variety that the Times "cowered to the wants and whims of two powerful ‘untouchable’ Hollywood elites, disregarding journalistic practices and ethics once befitting of the revered publication by using doctored and manipulated texts and intentionally omitting texts which dispute their chosen PR narrative."

This is the first of multiple lawsuits, including a potential one against Lively, that Freedman previously said will expose "those who believe themselves untouchable" and the details will "shock everyone."

Before news of Tuesday's lawsuit broke, a source told People that Lively is "in contact with her team" and "knows she'll have an explosive start to the new year."

"She still believes she's doing the right thing. She's ready to tackle whatever comes her way," the insider said.

The details in Lively's complaint were disturbing. She accused Baldoni of improvising intimate moments during filming, adding "gratuitous sexual content" to the script after she signed on — while allegedly telling her he's not attracted to her — and asking for details about her and husband Ryan Reynolds's sex life. Baldoni and his producing partner Jamey Heath, who's named in the complaint, are accused of trying to watch Lively naked when she changed in her trailer.

Baldoni and Heath have denied these "false" claims and their lawsuit against the Times provides text messages that allegedly show Lively and Baldoni had friendly correspondence in June per Variety.

Here are the key players involved in this dispute and the allegations against them.

Blake Lively

The actress starred in It Ends With Us and was also a producer on the film. In the complaint, she says she raised concerns about Baldoni’s and Heath's conduct on set last year. According to the complaint, a meeting took place on Jan. 4, 2024, in which she set forth their alleged inappropriate behavior and all parties agreed to implementing safeguards on the set.

Thirty rules were put in place, including "no more showing nude videos or images of women" to Lively; no more discussion of Baldoni’s and Heath's prior "pornography addiction"; "no more improvising of kissing"; and "no more entering" Lively's trailer while she's naked. The rules also prohibited Baldoni from adding new “sex scenes, oral sex, or on camera climaxing" outside of the previously approved script and required that an intimacy coordinator be on the set for all scenes involving nudity.

However, the part of Lively's complaint that especially reverberated through the entertainment industry was the alleged smear campaign orchestrated by Baldoni's publicists against Lively, which seemed to expose the cutthroat tactics of the crisis PR world.

Baldoni has accused Lively and her team of planting negative stories in the press, which they have denied.

On Dec. 31, Lively formally sued Baldoni and others claiming she was subjected to "further retaliation and attacks" after the New York Times report.

"Wayfarer and its associates have violated federal and California state law by retaliating against her for reporting sexual harassment and workplace safety concerns," she said in a statement obtained by The Hollywood Reporter. "Now, the defendants will answer for their conduct in federal court. Ms. Lively has brought this litigation in New York, where much of the relevant activities described in the Complaint took place, but we reserve the right to pursue further action in other venues and jurisdictions as appropriate under the law."

Justin Baldoni

The Jane the Virgin actor and director has not specifically addressed any of the allegations made by Lively; however, his lawyer has promised "a deliberate pursuit of truth."

Baldoni allegedly hired a crisis PR firm for himself and Wayfarer Studios after they believed Lively's team planted unfavorable stories in the press around the film's August release. Baldoni’s lawyer has claimed that a New York Times article, which broke the news of Lively's complaint, "doctored or spliced without context" seemingly damaging texts between him and his representative about the supposed smear campaign.

"This lawsuit will uncover and expose the false and destructive narrative that was intentionally engineered by a trusted media publication who relied upon nefarious sources and neglected a thorough fact checking process to confirm the validity of these texts," Freedman told People on Dec. 29, adding: "The truth will not only come to light — it will dismantle the illusions propped up by those who believe themselves untouchable."

Wayfarer Studios

The independent production studio behind It Ends With Us was co-founded by Baldoni and Steve Sarowitz in 2019. The studio also has the rights to adapt the film's sequel, It Starts With Us.

In a letter after the Jan. 4 meeting, the studio acknowledged that "although our perspective differs in many aspects, ensuring a safe environment for all is paramount, irrespective of differing viewpoints. Regarding your outlined requests, we find most of them not only reasonable but also essential for the benefit of all parties involved."

Jamey Heath

Heath is the CEO of Wayfarer Studios and the lead producer on It Ends With Us.

He is accused of showing Lively inappropriate videos, including of his wife giving birth, entering her makeup trailer uninvited and more. He signed a side letter to Lively's contract in which he agreed not to retaliate against the actress when implementing her requested safeguards. He has retained Freedman and is expected to be part of the countersuit.

Steve Sarowitz

An entrepreneur and billionaire philanthropist, Sarowitz reportedly invested $125 million in Wayfarer in 2022. According to Lively's complaint, Sarowitz claimed he was willing to spend $100 million to "ruin the lives of" the actress and her family. Sarowitz has retained Freedman as his attorney.

Jennifer Abel

Abel is a publicist representing Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios. She previously worked at the PR company Jonesworks before leaving to start her own firm, bringing both Baldoni and Wayfarer along with her as clients. Many of her text messages were included in Lively’s complaint as evidence of the alleged smear campaign — but how, exactly, they were obtained has been the subject of much industry speculation. Freedman claims the texts were cherry-picked and don't reveal the full story.

Melissa Nathan

Nathan is a crisis PR expert retained by Wayfarer Studios and Baldoni in August. In one now-infamous text allegedly sent to Abel and revealed in Lively’s complaint, Nathan wrote “we can bury anyone,” apparently referring to Lively.

Some of Nathan’s past high-profile clients include Drake and Johnny Depp, who hired Nathan during his successful defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard.

Stephanie Jones

Baldoni's ex-publicist and Abel's previous employer, Jones claims Abel and others initiated a secret smear campaign against Lively behind her back. She filed her own civil lawsuit against the same group named in Lively’s complaint.

"Behind Jones's back, [Abel and Nathan] secretly coordinated with Baldoni and [his studio] Wayfarer to implement an aggressive media smear campaign against Baldoni’s film co-star," the lawsuit claims.

Sony Pictures

The studio was the distributor of It Ends With Us. After the Jan. 4 meeting, Sony agreed to have an "active, daily role in overseeing physical production" for the remainder of shooting. Sony is not named as a defendant in Lively's complaint.

After the film wrapped, Lively had a creative battle with Baldoni and Heath. She made her own cut of the movie, with Sony's support, and brought on her own editors and a composer. Sony ultimately distributed Lively's version of the film.

The studio publicly issued support for Lively in a statement after she filed the complaint.

Ryan Reynolds

Actor Ryan Reynolds, who is married to Lively, acted as a representative for his wife before production resumed on the film to ensure agreed upon safeguards were put in place.

Baldoni allegedly mentioned Reynolds when texting Abel and Nathan. According to messages included in the complaint, Baldoni wrote to them about how Sarowitz suggested "flipping the narrative" when it came to Reynolds, like talking about his involvement in the film’s script. Lively revealed at the premiere that Reynolds rewrote a key scene in the film.

According to the complaint, Baldoni and Sarowitz "suggested ways to manipulate those rumors to make Mr. Reynolds appear to be anti-feminist." Nathan allegedly wrote back, "this is an easy flip" and said she was working on such a story.

In Baldoni's claims Reynolds berated him during a meeting at the couple's New York residence, and according to Tuesday's lawsuit, Reynolds accused Baldoni "of 'fat shaming'" the actress. The suit claims Reynolds pressured agency WME — home to Baldoni, Reynolds and Lively — to drop the director during July's Deadpool and Wolverine. This allegedly happened before Baldoni hired a crisis PR agency. WME ultimately dropped Baldoni earlier this month after Lively's filing. A WME rep denied to Variety the company pressured from Reynolds or Lively.
