Variety has reported that the American Music Awards may take a one-year break. The announcement came after news broke that the Billboard Music Awards would be held on Nov. 19, 2023, which is typically a Sunday held for the AMAs. As a result, parent company Dick Clark Productions appears to have no option but to delay the AMAs until 2024 when it can take the May slot that Billboard previously occupied. Sources indicate that neither awards show has secured a broadcast partner, and Dick Clark Productions had to decide which show to support.
