Kim Kardashian Calls For Pay Raise For Incarcerated Firefighters
Kim Kardashian is advocating for higher pay for incarcerated firefighters, who have been assisting in combating Southern California wildfires. In an Instagram story, she praised the nearly 900 inmates working "around the clock" to cut fire lines and slow the spread, calling them heroes risking their lives for minimal compensation. Currently, incarcerated firefighters in California earn $5.80 to $10.24 per day, with an additional $1 per hour during active emergencies—far below the state’s $16.50 minimum wage. Kardashian urged Gov. Gavin Newsom to raise their pay, asking him to break a four-decade precedent and honor their contributions.
