The Senate passed a resolution declaring August 3 as Tony Bennett Day, honoring the singer who died last week at 96. The date is Bennett’s birthday. “You only come across a Tony Bennett once in a lifetime,” Senate Majority Chuck Schumer said on the Senate floor. “It didn’t matter if you were young or old or somewhere in between, it didn’t matter if you were a friend of a fan, just about everyone loved Tony — and Tony loved just about everyone.”

Kristen Bell, Dax Shepard Kicked Out Of Boston Airport

Kristen Bell, her husband Dax Sheppard and their two kids were kicked out of Boston’s Logan International Airport despite having nowhere to go when their flight was delayed on Wednesday. They had bought $600 worth of pillows and sheets to create makeshift beds on the floor of the airport after their flight was delayed nine hours and they couldn’t find any available hotels within 50 miles. “Stranded at the Boston airport, 9 hours of delays,” Bell wrote on her Instagram story with a photo of her family and friends who were also traveling with them sitting at a gate. Bell said they were passing the time by playing Uno and Spades before they decided to hunker down with blankets and neck pillows — planning to stay the night after they learned their flight’s departure was moved to the next day. But after getting themselves all cozy and ready to sleep, the actress said they wanted to stay but were kicked out with no place to go late at night. All was resolved when they found a place to stay with friends of friends. “Thankfully we found friends of friends who offered us their attics and accepted us at 1am!!!!!!” she captioned a pic of the beds in the attic on Instagram.

Tina Fey Could Take Over 'SNL' For Lorne Michaels

A source told the NY Post that Tina Fey is being looked at to take over as executive producer of “Saturday Night Live” when current executive producer and creator Lorne Michaels departs. So far, Michaels hasn’t formally announced any intention to leave the show he created in 1975. In a 2022 interview with the New York Times, he said: “I have no plans to retire.” A year before that, however, he left the door open to a new phase away from Studio 8H. Michaels told CBS Morning‘s Gayle King, “I think I’m committed to doing the show until its 50th anniversary, which is in three years… I’d like to see that through and I have a feeling that would be a really good time to leave.” The 50th season of “SNL” is coming in the fall of 2024. Fey is considered by many in the industry to be the leading candidate take over. “I would be surprised if it wasn’t her,” a source said.

Megan Fox Is Slammed For Asking Fans To Donate To Her Friend's $30,000 Gofundme - Despite The Fact That She's Rich

Megan Fox is facing backlash after asking fans to donate to her friend’s GoFundMe instead of forking over the $30,000 needed to reach the fundraising goal. The fundraiser was set up by her longtime nail tech Brittney Boyce, whose 64-year-old father Michael is battling pancreatic cancer. She did so in the hopes of covering his medical expenses so he can focus on himself and not the stress about finances. Fox — who has a reported net worth of $8 million — re-posted the GoFundMe on her Instagram Story on Monday. “my friends dad was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer if you guys are able to help please do,” captioned Fox, who included a link to the fundraiser. On social media, fans accused the star of “hoarding money” by asking those much poorer than her to reach into their own pockets. “megan fox sharing a gofundme for 30k has got to be a joke,” read one tweet. “as if she isn't rich as f**k and could help their friend immediately lol.” Another Twitter user wrote: “If I had as much money as her, I'd cover 100% of a friend's parent's medical expenses before I asked strangers to.”

"I wouldn't want to squash anybody else's dream but for me, at this moment, I'm at totally zero," she added.

Chuck Norris Settles Suit Against CBS, Sony Over 'Walker, Texas Ranger' Profits

After more than five years of legal wrangling, Chuck Norris has settled a suit against CBS and Sony Pictures alleging he was shortchanged out of at least $30 million in profits for Walker, Texas Ranger. On Monday, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge dismissed the case after both sides agreed to resolve the suit in a settlement. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. Norris, through his company Top Kick Productions, claimed in a suit filed in 2019 that the companies violated a term in his contract requiring he be paid 23 percent of profits “earned from any, and all, exploitation of Walker,” according to the complaint. He alleged that CBS intentionally marketed and distributed the series in such a way to avoid having to pay him his share of streaming video-on-demand (SVOD) revenue.

Ice-T Shuts Down Conspiracy Theorists Who Claimed Jamie Foxx Was Replaced By A Clone

Ice-T spoke up on Twitter on Sunday and came to the defense of Jamie Foxx. Jamie filmed a video late last week in which he spoke directly to the camera about his recovery and said he was looking forward to getting back to his regular routine. But almost immediately, conspiracy theorists started posting on social media about the clip, with many claiming that he had been replaced by a double, or cloned, supposedly because he looked different and the shape of his face appeared unusual to some. Ice-T thought the comments were ridiculous and said so in his own post. “People would rather believe that Jamie is now a Clone or Ai, than the man was just seriously sick and damn near died… Cause he doesn’t look EXACTLY the same???” he tweeted. “YOU look different after a bad cold! Smh weirdos..” he added.

There's A Historical Mistake In 'Oppenheimer' - Some Are Saying It Ruined The Movie

Christopher Nolan’s hit movie “Oppenheimer” is taking some heat; there’s a scene in the movie that isn’t hitting the right target. One moment in the three-hour film starring Cillian Murphy shows a historical error that viewers pointed out on Twitter. In the shot, the actor stands in the middle of a crowd, who all clap and cheer for him while they wave American flags. The dramatic epic about the life of nuclear physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer takes place in the early 1940s, but the flags featured white stars that represent 50 states — despite the country only having 48 in 1945 when the scene took place. Hawaii and Alaska, the last two entities to be annexed to the U.S., weren’t added until 1959. Fan Andy Craig revealed the mistake on social media, sharing a snapshot of the scene, and his post quickly went viral. “It was good and all, but I’ll be that guy and complain they used 50-star flags in a scene set in 1945,” he tweeted.

Tony Bennett, Legendary Pop and Jazz Singer, Dead at 96

Music legend Tony Bennett has died. He was 96.

"Tony Bennett, born Anthony Dominick Benedetto in Astoria, Queens on August 3, 1926, has passed away in his hometown of New York City at the age of 96 earlier today," his rep told PEOPLE in a statement. "The beloved singer, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease in 2016, is survived by his wife, Susan Benedetto, his two sons, Danny and Dae Bennett, his daughters Johanna Bennett and Antonia Bennett and 9 grandchildren."

The icon's family confirmed in January 2021 that Bennett had been quietly living with Alzheimer's disease since 2016. The revelation came as part of a profile on his life for AARP The MagazineWhen news broke of his health,  Bennett was still capable of recognizing his friends and family.

Bennett's wife, who became his primary caregiver, told the magazine that he was "not always sure where he is or what is happening around him" and that "mundane objects as familiar as a fork or a set of house keys can be utterly mysterious to him."

His neurologist, Gayatri Devi, said that keeping up with his music has been incredibly beneficial for the Grammy Award winner.

"It kept him on his toes and also stimulated his brain in a significant way," Devi explained, later adding, "He is doing so many things, at 94, that many people without dementia cannot do. He really is the symbol of hope for someone with a cognitive disorder."

According to Benedetto, the singer was always in good spirits, even during his journey with Alzheimers. "But that's because he already didn't understand," she told AARP. "He would ask me, 'What is Alzheimer's?' I would explain, but he wouldn't get it."

"He'd tell me, 'Susan, I feel fine.' That's all he could process — that physically he felt great," Benedetto said. "So, nothing changed in his life. Anything that did change, he wasn't aware of."

Bennett was a master jazz vocalist whose unique style and devotion to the classic American songbook carried him through eight decades of fame.

He released his debut single “Because of You” in 1951 and dropped one of his most popular hits, “I Left My Heart in San Francisco,” in 1962. Over the course of his iconic career, Bennett amassed 20 Grammy awards including the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001 — he gained recognition in the Grammy Hall of Fame for “I Left My Heart in San Francisco” in 1994.

Additionally, the late star won two Emmy awards. In 2017, Bennett was honored with The Library Of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, making him the first “interpretive singer” to win the honor.

Among his countless accolades, the “My Favorite Things” singer also won the GLAAD Media Award for outstanding music album in 2003.

PEOPLE caught up with the star in celebration of his 90th birthday in 2016. “I’m still wide awake!” the iconic artist said at the time. “My doctor likes to kick me out of his office and say, ‘There’s nothing wrong with you — don’t bother me!’ I’m very fortunate.”

“I had a wonderful time growing up in Queens and dreaming about coming to the big city to make it,” Bennett told PEOPLE. “It all happened [in 1962] with my song ‘I Left My Heart in San Francisco.'”

Even in his late 80s, Bennett never gave up his dream. He won the Grammy award for best traditional pop vocal album two consecutive years in a row in 2015 and 2016. His second collection of Duets debuted at the top of the charts in September 2011, making Bennett the oldest performer in history to release a No. 1 album.

“I think being my age, staying in top shape is a first. Usually people are still respected if they show up at 90, but they say, ‘He’s not like he used to be’ and all that. And it’s not happening with me,” Bennett said. “I still have a lot of energy when I hit the stage and I feel blessed about the fact that I’m still going strong. We were always sold out wherever we played throughout my whole career, and it’s a blessing to still have that happen at 90.”

As much as Bennett maintained his young spirit, the star was required to slow down a bit in September 2019 when he contracted a virus and was advised to cancel a slew of upcoming performances in order to recover.

Still, Bennett always kept an active presence amongst his fans across all age groups, even posting on his TwitterFacebookInstagram and Myspace accounts.

“Dear Lady – I always knew you could do anything at the highest level of artistry,” Bennet shared on Twitter celebrating Lady Gaga for her 2019 Oscar nods. He was 92 at the time. “Congratulations on your Oscar nominations! Love, Tony.”

Lady Gaga isn’t the only pop star Bennett worked with. He also collaborated with many other artists including the late Amy WinehouseDiana KrallMichael BubléCarrie Underwood and more. In 2016, the star even teased a collaboration with Beyoncé.

Beyoncé — she’s thinking of something to do with me,” he previously told PEOPLE. “We met at a benefit, and she said, ‘I’ve got an idea that we should do something together.’ She didn’t tell me what it was yet, so we’ll see what happens!”

Gwyneth Paltrow Complains About The Aging Double Standard

Gwyneth Paltrow slammed the “double standard” in attitudes toward aging in men and women during a new interview with British Vogue for its September 2023 issue — all while peddling anti-aging products. “I think it’s culture’s problem [that women seem to be judged more on getting older than men]. It’s not ours!” she said. “As women, we want to be healthy, we want to be aging. This idea that we’re supposed to be frozen in time is so weird.” “It’s handsome to go gray [as a man], but for women, it’s like, ‘What do you plan to do about your wrinkles and your aging skin?’” Paltrow said. “There’s definitely a double standard.” Paltrow stressed that it’s actually important that people age, and that women should be free to age how they want to. “But again, we want to be aging!” she told British Vogue. “I think we want to be setting examples of how you can age. Every woman should do it how they want to do it. Some women want to address every single thing aesthetically, and some women want to be a fabulous French grandmother who doesn’t ever do anything. Everybody should be empowered to do it how they want to.” By the way: a few days ago, Paltrow introduced a new skincare product made by her wellness brand Goop called the “Youth-Boost Peptide Serum.”

One insider told DailyMail that Joe - who has been sober for 21 years and has been candid about his past struggles with alcohol addiction - was warned about getting into a serious relationship with someone who was not actively sober. “Of course the fact that Sofia is not sober had an impact on their marriage,” the source said. “He was warned about this when he started dating her and again before marrying her. The actor made the statement shortly after SAG-AFTRA officially joined the Writers Guild of America picketers on Thursday for the first time in a total of six decades. The star responded to an anonymous executive telling Deadline early last week that, “The endgame is to allow things to drag on until union members start losing their apartments and losing their houses,” with a source labeling the tactic as “a cruel but necessary evil.” Perlman responded by saying the following: “The one thing before I get off this, the motherf***** who said we're gonna keep this thing going until people start losing their houses and apartments. Listen to me mother******! There's a lot of ways to lose your house. Some of it is financial, some of it is karma, and some of it is just figuring out who the f*** said that.” He continued, “And we know who said that and where he f***ing lives.” There's a lot of ways to lose your house. You wish that on people, you wish that families starve while you're making 27 f***ing million dollars a year for creating nothing. Be careful, mother******. Be really careful because that's the kind of s**t that stirs s**t up. Peace out.”

Yesterday, Disney boss Bob Iger slammed actors who are threatening to go on strike, saying they are not being realistic and are being disruptive to the industry. A blue figure could be seen lurking in the bushes nearby. “I was wondering where the @cybex_usa stroller I ordered for Ozzie went,” she continued. “I was going back and forth with customer service and @fedex and I swore to them it wasn't delivered and then I found this video (which won't load here for some reason).” Calling out the thief, she added, “This dude watched for an hour while the box sat outside and then climbed a side of a hill to snag them.” Mandy bought the place in January 2017 for a reported $2.56 million. She bought it while it was still in construction mode and has been working on it since.

Brad Pitt Accused Of Looting French Vineyard He Owned With Angelina Jolie

The ongoing controversy surrounding Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's French vineyard has once again taken center stage. Nouvel, Jolie's former investment company, recently filed legal documents asserting that Pitt has "stripped" and "looted" Château Miraval, the winery they jointly acquired in 2008, in an attempt to regain control of the enterprise. At present, both Pitt and Nouvel own a 50 percent stake in Château Miraval. However, Jolie's former investment company alleges in court papers that Pitt has been trying to "seize de facto control" of the winery by squandering millions of dollars on a series of self-indulgent projects. The documents further claim that Pitt has sought to transfer "half of the value of Château Miraval's most valuable assets" to his friend and business partner without compensation. Nouvel also asserts that Pitt has recklessly depleted "the company's assets to benefit his other businesses." A source close to the legal dispute, speaking to "Entertainment Tonight," dismissed the allegation that Pitt looted the company as "absurd," pointing out that the actor has actually invested millions more into the business.

Taylor Swift Signed A $100 Million Sponsorship Deal With Failed Bitcoin FTX

A new report has corrected something that first surfaced in April surrounding Taylor Swift's dealings with Sam Bankman-Fried's collapsed crypto exchange FTX. Lawyer Adam Moskowitz, who is leading a class action lawsuit against celebrities who endorsed FTX, said in an interview that Swift backed out of a $100 million tour sponsorship deal with FTX after questioning cryptocurrencies' status as unregistered securities. This prompted a bunch of headlines congratulating Swift for sidestepping the financial mess that FTX became, many citing her father's career in finance as helping to guide her through the decision-making process. However, in a new feature, the New York Times reports that Swift did in fact sign a $100 million deal with Bankman-Fried only for him to back out, something that left her and her team frustrated and disappointed. Founder Sam Bankman-Fried has pleaded not guilty to charges that he cheated investors and looted customer deposits to make lavish real estate purchases, campaign contributions to politicians, and risky trades at Alameda Research, his cryptocurrency hedge fund trading firm.
