LEONARDTOWN, MD – October 30, 2026 – St. Mary’s County Government announces that
applications for the Community Reinvestment and Repair Fund (CRRF) grant program will open Monday,
Nov. 2, 2026. Eligible nonprofit organizations are invited to apply for funding to support programs and
projects that strengthen communities throughout St. Mary’s County.
The CRRF was established under Maryland’s Cannabis Reform Act of 2023 and is funded through
a portion of the state’s adult-use cannabis tax revenue. The program reinvests these funds into lowincome communities and areas affected by past cannabis law enforcement and supports initiatives that
address local needs, expand opportunities and improve residents’ quality of life.
St. Mary’s County has received approximately $1.6 million in CRRF funding to support eligible
community initiatives. The Commissioners have prioritized one-time investments that address local
needs, provide measurable benefits and create lasting improvements without requiring ongoing county
funding. Eligible projects may focus on:
• Education and youth development: After-school programs, youth activities and
educational support.
• Behavioral health and family support: Mental health services, childcare and family
assistance programs.
• Housing and basic needs: Housing assistance, homelessness prevention and community
support services.
• Workforce development: Job training, employment readiness and programs supporting
individuals and families affected by incarceration.
• Community improvements: Transportation, equipment, technology and facility
improvements that support eligible services.
Applications open Monday, Nov. 2, 2026, and must be submitted by close of business Monday,
Dec. 21, 2026. Interested organizations may apply online at apps.stmarysmd.com/Grants, where they can also review program requirements and eligibility information.
To assist applicants, St. Mary’s County Government will offer two training sessions to review
program requirements and demonstrate how to use the online application portal. Sessions are
scheduled for:
• Thursday, Nov. 5, 2026, at 6 p.m.
• Thursday, Nov. 12, 2026, at 2 p.m.
Organizations interested in attending a training session should register by emailing
