LEONARDTOWN, MD – October 30, 2026 – The St. Mary’s County Department of Public Works &
Transportation (DPW&T) advises motorists of temporary lane closures along FDR Blvd. on Monday, Nov. 2,
2026, as crews begin roadway improvements, weather permitting.
Construction will take place along the southbound lane of FDR Blvd., between the Market Place
St. Mary’s shopping center entrance near Harris Teeter and Maryland Route 4. Work will include
excavation to install a new multiuse path.
The project is expected to take one day to complete, weather permitting. Temporary southbound
lane closures are anticipated from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Traffic control signs and message boards will be
placed in the area to alert motorists of construction activities and potential delays.
Motorists are encouraged to use caution when traveling through the work zone, follow posted
signs and watch for construction crews and equipment. Drivers should allow extra travel time or consider
alternate routes to avoid delays.
