PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. – ?Sept. 29, 2026? – The Calvert County Board of County Commissioners voted to award the sale of $75.9 million in public improvement general obligation bonds during its Aug. 18, 2026, meeting.
The bond sale helps finance public projects to improve, upgrade and build county infrastructure and facilities previously approved in the FY 24-26 capital improvement plans.
The winning bid for the bond sale Sept. 29 came from Hilltop Securities, at a true interest cost of 4.66%.
In September, Calvert County Government’s AAA credit rating was reaffirmed by three independent credit rating agencies, reflecting the county’s strong economy, robust revenues and sound financial management. The AAA credit rating allows the county government to secure funding through bond sales at lower interest rates, reducing borrowing costs for major capital projects.
Bond funding is included for the following ongoing projects: Northern Middle School improvements; Prince Frederick Loop Road; Barstow Convenience Center upgrade; Hall Aquatic Center roof/HVAC replacement; sewer collection rehabilitation; Solomons Wastewater Treatment Plant upgrades; Back Creek loop water main; West Prince Frederick storage tank; Southern Middle School HVAC; St. Leonard Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad facility replacement; Boyd’s Turn Road; Brooks Administrative Building; Calvert Pines Senior Center renovation/expansion; and Little Cove Point Road curve repair.
The bond sale also provides funding for several other projects.
