Lexington Park Man Charged with Assault After Allegedly Pointing Handgun at Juveniles

LEONARDTOWN, MD (September 8, 2026) – A Lexington Park man was arrested Sunday after deputies responded to the 21000 block of Liberty Street in Lexington Park for a weapons complaint, where several juveniles reported that a man had confronted them with a handgun.

 

Upon arrival, deputies located a man matching the description provided in the initial report. The subject, identified as William James Doyle III, 65, of Lexington Park, was carrying a Ruger Lightweight Compact Pistol with an empty chamber and a magazine containing six 9mm rounds.

 

During the investigation, several of the victims reported that during the confrontation, Doyle assaulted them by pointing the firearm at them. No shots were fired, and no injuries were reported.

 

Doyle was arrested and charged with seven counts of first-degree assault, seven counts of second-degree assault, one count of wearing and carrying a loaded handgun, and one count of wearing and carrying a handgun on their person.
