On September 1, a 14-year-old student at Thomas Stone High School was found to be in possession of a vape containing THC and a retail-packaged bag of cannabis. On August 30, a 17-year-old student at La Plata High School was found to be in possession of cannabis and a 15-year-old student at Westlake High School was in possession of a vaping device containing THC. On August 28, school administrators at St. Charles High School recovered two retail-packaged bags of cannabis from a 16-year-old student’s bookbag. The students will be charged on a juvenile citation with possession of cannabis. Parents are urged to talk with their children about the dangers of consuming these products which could contain harmful substances. The students also face consequences from the Charles County Public Schools in accordance with the code of student conduct.
