LEONARDTOWN, MD – The Commission for People with Disabilities is seeking nominations for its annual awards program, recognizing individuals, employers, and community members who make a meaningful impact on the lives of people with disabilities.
Recipients will be awarded in the following categories:
Volunteer Award: This award recognizes an individual who demonstrates exceptional commitment to the disability community through the generous contribution of their time, energy, and talents.
Notable Employer Award: This award recognizes an employer who has demonstrated a commitment to advancing employment and/or volunteer opportunities for people with disabilities.
Care Partner Award: This award is given to a care provider, whether volunteer or paid, who advocates for and empowers people with disabilities.
Innovative Program Award: This award is presented to an individual who has developed and implemented an innovative program or initiative that promotes inclusion for people with disabilities.
Vicki Brown Award (Student): This award is given to a person with a disability who serves as a role model and inspires others. The candidate must be enrolled as a student of any capacity and can be of any age.
Vicki Brown Award (Adult): This award is given to a person with a disability who serves as a role model and inspires others. The candidate must be 18 years of age or older.

The Commission for People with Disabilities will review all nominations and select the award winners. Awards will be presented by the Commissioners of St. Mary’s County in October 2026.
