LEONARDTOWN, MD – The Commissioners of St. Mary's County (CSMC) began their business meeting with an invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by approval of the consent agenda.
As part of the consent agenda, the CSMC approved the ratification of updated account information with Shore United Bank.
The CSMC then presented a proclamation in recognition of Women’s Equality Day. They also recognized team members from the Men’s Basketball and Track and Field teams for their performances in the 2026 USA Special Olympics.
The CSMC then received an annual update from Dr. Rhonda Phillips, the president of St. Mary’s College of Maryland.
For the main agenda item, the CSMC authorized a public hearing to be scheduled on September 15, 2026, for the proposed adoption of the Terminal and Pergola Usage Policy & License Agreement.
During County Administrator Time, the CSMC took the following action:
- Reviewed future CSMC meeting agendas.
- Adopted the resolution waiving landfill fees for Christmas in April projects for FY27.
- Approved the budget amendment for the Board of Education’s unrestricted and restricted funds.
- Approved the request from the Sheriff’s Office to reorganize three existing positions to better align staffing resources with their operational needs.
- Approved the FY27 School Resource Officer/Adequate Coverage Grant.
- Approved the FFY27 Cooperative Reimbursement Agreement for Child Support Grant.
- Approved the Equitable Sharing Agreement and Certification for FY26.
- Approved the budget amendment to return salary and fringe savings for FY26 to the commissioners’ emergency reserve.
- Approved the budget amendment to return unused funds for the GetResq911 contract to the commissioners’ reserve.
- Approved the budget amendment to realign county accounts for the FY2026 snow removal, decreasing the commissioners’ FY26 commissioner’s reserve.
The Commissioners then wrapped up their business meeting with Commissioner Time.
The next CSMC meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 9 a.m. in the CSMC Meeting Room, on the first floor of the Chesapeake Building, located at 41770 Baldridge Street in Leonardtown.
