LEONARDTOWN, MD (August 25, 2026) – While conducting proactive patrol operations along Great Mills Road in Lexington Park on Friday, Aug. 21, deputies initiated a traffic stop on a Subaru Outback for an equipment violation.
During the traffic stop, a free-air sniff was conducted by K-9 Maja, resulting in a positive alert for the presence of narcotics. Deputies then performed a search of the vehicle, locating a bag in the trunk that contained a Walther PK380 handgun and a magazine containing unspent live rounds.
Trace amounts of suspected controlled dangerous substances (CDS) were also located.
The front seat passenger, identified as Terrance Marquis Savoy, 34, of Lexington Park, was arrested and charged with 11 counts, including
- Possession of a regulated firearm after having been convicted of a crime of violence
- Knowingly possessing a regulated firearm while being a person on supervised probation
- Knowingly possessing a regulated firearm after being convicted of a disqualifying crime classified as a misdemeanor
- Knowingly possessing a regulated firearm after being convicted of a disqualifying crime classified as a felony
- Knowingly transporting a handgun in a vehicle upon public roads
- Transporting a handgun on or about their person
- Transporting a loaded handgun on or about their person
- Possession of ammunition, being prohibited from possessing a regulated firearm
- Knowingly transporting a loaded handgun in a vehicle on public roads
- Possession of a controlled dangerous substance: cocaine
- Possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia
Savoy was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center, where he is being held without bond.
