On July 31, just after 4 a.m., detectives assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division were conducting an investigation near the 3000 block of Gallery Place in Waldorf when they observed several males and a female arguing. One of the males then entered an apartment building and returned with a sawed-off shotgun. Detectives immediately requested additional officers as the male approached the female, who was standing by a passenger car, and raised the shotgun toward her. As officers approached the male, he discarded the shotgun into the car. Officers were able to take the suspect, identified as Perrie Stephon Wilson, age 40, of Waldorf, into custody without further incident.
As Wilson was being taken into custody, detectives also observed two additional males carrying handguns running from the area and hiding behind a building. As marked police vehicles approached, the males quickly ran and placed the firearms inside a nearby SUV. Officers were able to detain the suspects at which time they learned one of the suspects, Curtis Lamont Williams, Jr., age 24, of Washington, DC, had an active arrest warrant for a prior incident involving a handgun. Upon learning of the warrant, Williams tried to flee but was taken into custody. He was found to be in possession of oxycodone, cannabis and other drugs. The other suspect, Delvon Jer’ve Tate, age 27, of Waldorf, was also detained. After canvassing the area, detectives located a discarded book bag nearby containing $600 worth of cannabis, about $250 worth of crack cocaine, and several prescription Xanax bars.
Detectives obtained search warrants for the SUV and passenger car which resulted in the recovery of two loaded handguns with extended magazines, one of which was equipped with a machine gun conversion device known as a “Glock switch” making the handgun capable of automatic fire. That handgun had been previously reported stolen. The shotgun used by Wilson was also found to be loaded when recovered from the passenger car.
All three suspects were placed under arrest and were found to be prohibited from possession of firearms due to prior arrests and felony convictions. Wilson was charged with first-degree assault and weapon violations. Williams was charged with assault and weapons violations. Tate was charged with weapons violations. Wilson and Williams are being held at the Charles County Detention Center without bond. Tate was released on August 3 by the court on electronic monitoring. The investigation is continuing.
