CDS Violation: 26-61403 On July 16, 2026, at approximately 7:05 p.m., Sgt. Kelly initiated a traffic stop for a moving violation on Rousby Hall Road near Robin Court in Lusby. During the stop, DFC R. Jones and K9 Bane responded to the scene, where K9 Bane conducted a free-air sniff and positively alerted to the odor of a controlled dangerous substance. A subsequent search of the vehicle located drug paraphernalia, including a plastic "rip-off" baggie and pieces of Brillo copper mesh. A search of passenger, Jeremy Mark Owens, 37, of Jennings, Florida, revealed approximately 2 grams of suspected cocaine concealed inside a folded dollar bill. After Owens was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center, an additional plastic bag containing approximately 4 grams of suspected cocaine fell to the ground as he exited the transport vehicle. A search of the transport cage also confirmed the presence of the narcotics. Owens was charged with two counts of CDS: Possession – Not Cannabis and three counts of CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia.
Indecent Exposure: 26-62197- On July 19, 2026, at approximately 7:20 p.m., DFC Campbell responded to the 7-Eleven located at 3855 Old Town Road in Huntingtown for the report of an indecent exposure. The complainant advised that she and her two daughters were seated in their parked vehicle when they observed a male, later identified as Nathan Olando Jones, 67, of no fixed address, standing directly in front of their vehicle. Jones allegedly placed his hand inside his pants before exposing himself through a hole in the crotch area of his clothing. The complainant yelled from inside her vehicle, at which point Jones began walking away while still exposed. Deputies located Jones nearby and observed him pulling up his pants, as well as evidence consistent with the complainant's account. Jones was taken into custody and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with Indecent Exposure.
Theft: 26-60341 On July 13, 2026, at approximately 4:50 p.m., DFC Campbell responded to Walmart, located at 150 N. Solomons Island Road in Prince Frederick, for the report of a theft. An investigation determined that a suspect used a self-checkout scam by scanning lower-priced trading card packs while concealing higher-priced boxes beneath them, allowing him to leave the store without paying for the merchandise. The total value of the stolen items was $296.77. Through surveillance footage and follow-up investigation, deputies identified the suspect as Randolph Tyler Morningstar, 32, of Lusby. Later that evening, deputies located Morningstar at Lord Calvert Bowl in Huntingtown. When contacted, he initially provided deputies with a false name but was positively identified by witnesses and later admitted his true identity. A search incident to arrest recovered two of the stolen baseball card boxes. Morningstar was arrested and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center, where he was charged with Theft ($100 to under $1,500), Fraud – Personal Identity to Avoid Prosecution, and Obstructing and Hindering.
Theft: 26-60955 On July 15, 2026, at approximately 1:08 p.m., DFC Vaughn responded to Saint Anthony's Catholic Church, located at 8810 Chesapeake Avenue in North Beach, for the report of a stolen bicycle. The bicycle is described as an older-model Trek 21-speed road bike with white outlined "Trek" lettering, white accents on the wheels, a small white light attached to the left handlebar, and a black flashlight mounted to the right handlebar. The estimated value of the stolen bicycle is $400.
Trespassing: 26-60795 On July 15, 2026, Deputy Flaherty responded to Buckets Sports Bar, located at 12020 Rousby Hall Road in Lusby, for the report of a fight in progress. The investigation determined that Sara Ann Elizabeth Hairston, 37 of Lusby, had been involved in a physical altercation with another individual. Due to her belligerent behavior, the business requested that Hairston be trespassed from the property. While deputies were on scene, Hairston continued yelling obscenities and acting disorderly. She was escorted to a vehicle by a sober driver but exited the vehicle and 3 returned to the business. After repeatedly refusing deputies' lawful orders to leave the property, Hairston was arrested and charged with trespassing.
Vehicle Tampering: 26-61629 On July 17, 2026, at approximately 5:08 p.m., Deputy R. Contic responded to the Central Square Shopping Center, located at 141 Central Square Drive in Prince Frederick, for the report of a vehicle tampering. The complainant advised that after returning to her parked vehicle, she discovered the driver's side door handle had been broken off and was lying in pieces on the ground. The driver's side window had also been forced down. Deputies observed pry marks in the paint around the door handle, as well as damage to the steering column and ignition area, where plastic trim had been broken off. The estimated value of the damage is unknown at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
Weapons Violation: 26-61713 On July 17, 2026, at approximately 11:35 p.m., DFC Newton conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle along W. Chesapeake Beach Road in Dunkirk for an expired registration. The driver, identified as Bobby Daniel Cooper II, 50, of Stem, North Carolina, was found to be operating the vehicle without a valid driver's license, and the vehicle's registration was determined to be suspended. During the investigation, deputies located a concealed 12” fixed-blade knife between the driver's seat and center console. Cooper was arrested and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center, where he was charged with Concealing a Dangerous Weapon and Driving on a Suspended License.
