Patrol Officers Recover Stolen Vehicle And Arrest Driver
Patrol officers recover stolen vehicle and arrest driver: On March 23 at 9:35 p.m., patrol officers in the area of Holly Tree Lane and Western Parkway in Waldorf observed a Dodge Journey which had been reported stolen. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, and found three occupants inside, including the driver, Derrick Larnell Brown, 37, of Accokeek. Investigators learned Brown had been arrested on March 20 on a bench warrant after failing to appear in court on March 17 for a prior drug charge. Later that same day, the courts released him from the Charles County Detention Center on personal recognizance. After his release, Brown stole the Dodge Journey from the parking lot of a local business. He remained in possession of the stolen car until officers stopped him. The other occupants of the vehicle were unaware it had been stolen and were released without charges. Brown was charged with theft of a motor vehicle and transported to the Charles County Detention Center, where the district court commissioner released him on an unsecured $3,000 bond.
