Officers Assigned to Patrol Division Charge Suspect in Felony Theft Scheme: In early May, officers assigned to the Patrol Division were made aware of a case in which a manager of a business in Waldorf was stealing large amounts of money. The closing manager was suspected of stealing cash from the business over the past several months. As part of the investigation, several search warrants were obtained. On May 15, patrol officers, with assistance from the Criminal Investigations Division, arrested the suspect as he left work. Over $6,000 in currency was recovered from him, and an additional $25,000 was recovered from his residence. Preliminarily, more than $100,000 appears to have been stolen. Nicholas Owen Patton, age 44, of Waldorf, was charged with felony theft scheme. On May 16, a district court commissioner released Patton from the Charles County Detention Center on personal recognizance. PFC Gould is investigating.
