Patrol Officers Recover Cocaine And Replica Firearm During Traffic Stop
Patrol officers recover cocaine and a replica firearm during traffic stop: On May 2 at 9:06 p.m., a patrol officer initiated a traffic stop in the area of Route 210 and South Poplar Lane. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer observed the driver taking what appeared to be crack cocaine out of his pockets and concealing a handgun under his seat. Upon further investigation, officers recovered crack cocaine in multiple baggies. The handgun was determined to be a replica pellet pistol, designed to appear to be nearly identical to a real firearm. The tags on the car were not registered to the vehicle and belonged to a different car. The driver, Joseph Leon Young, age 62, of Indian Head, was charged with possession with intent to distribute drugs and several motor vehicle violations. PFC Heishman investigated.
