LEONARDTOWN, MD – The Commissioners of St. Mary's County (CSMC) welcomed a special guest this morning, when Sunny the Squirrel stopped by with an invitation for the upcoming Cherry Blossom Festival and Easter Egg FesFestival.
The Commissioners then began their business meeting with an invocation and the pledge, followed by approval of the consent agenda
The CSMC then presented proclamations in recognition of National Agriculture (Ag) Day, National Social Work Month, and Problem Gambling Awareness Month.
The CSMC then received the annual State of the College update from Dr. Yolanda Wilson, President of the College of Southern Maryland.
For their main agenda item, the Commissioners approved a request for public hearing for the purpose of receiving public comment on the disposition of surplus county-owned real property.
During County Administrator Time, the Commissioners took the following action:
Reviewed future CSMC meeting agendas.
Approved the State’s Attorney’s FY26 Victims of Crime Act Grant Application.
Approved the Snow Hill Manor Entrance Easement.
Approved the release for Janet M. Butterfield from the Agriculture Land Property Tax Credit Program.
Authorized the Procurement Officer to award the Asphalt Overlay Services Contract for Calendar Year 2025 to HOLCIM-MAR Inc.
The CSMC then received the annual State of the College update from Dr. Yolanda Wilson, President of the College of Southern Maryland.
Approved the Department of Emergency Services’ requested budget amendments.
Approved the Department of Emergency Services’ request to increase the hourly rate for the Veterinarian Salary to $97 per hour starting FY25.
The CSMC then received a legislative update from the Office of the County Attorney.
The Commissioners wrapped their business meeting with Commissioner Time.
