October 29th St. Mary's County Commissioner Meeting Rollup

LEONARDTOWN, MD – The Commissioners of St. Mary's County (CSMC) began their business meeting with an invocation and the pledge, followed by approval of the consent agenda.

 

The CSMC then presented proclamations in recognition of the Pax River Raiders 2023 7U8U10U and 11U football teams for winning the Southern Maryland Youth Athletic Conference. 

 

The CSMC then received a presentation from the Maryland Department of Commerce’s Director of Rural Economic Strategy, Carl Anderton.

 

During County Administrator Time, the Commissioners took the following action:

  • Reviewed future CSMC meeting agendas.
  • Approved the FY2025 State Grants Notification of Award on behalf of the Department of Aging and Human Services.
  • Approved the Navy Land Transfer request.
  • Approved the repair of the Health Department HVAC system.
  • Approved county staff to identify sources of funding to renovate Leonard Hall Junior Naval Academy for use as a Child Care Facility.
  • Approved Bruce Bereano as a government relation consultant and lobbyist for 2025/2026.

 

The Commissioners wrapped their business meeting with Commissioner Time. The CSMC reconvened at 6:30 p.m. for a Public Forum.

 

The next CSMC business meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at 9 a.m. in the CSMC Meeting Room (1st floor, Chesapeake Building, 41770 Baldridge Street in Leonardtown). There will also be a budget work session that day at 1 p.m. CSMC decisions and related documents are available on the SMCG website in BoardDocs.
