St. Mary's County May 21 Commissioner Meeting Rollup

LEONARDTOWN, MD – The Commissioners of St. Mary's County (CSMC) started the day with a joint meeting at the St. Mary's County Metropolitan Commission (MetCom), which included updates and discussion on capital improvement projects, problem water and sewer areas, an EDU transfer program, and the EPA lead and copper rule. The CSMC wrapped the joint meeting by approving MetCom's FY2025 Capital Improvement Budget and FY2026-2030 Plan. The CSMC reconvened at the Chesapeake Building for the remainder of their business meeting. They began with an invocation and the pledge, followed by approval of the consent agenda.

 

The Commissioners then presented proclamations in recognition of Mental Health Awareness MonthNational EMS WeekNational Transportation Week, and National Public Works Week.

 

For their main agenda item, the CSMC approved the FY2025 Operating & Capital Budgets.

 

During County Administrator Time, the Commissioners took the following action:

  • Reviewed future CSMC meeting agendas.
  • Approved the budget amendment realigning revenues collected from the Commission for Women’s annual awards brunch to the Jane Hale Sypher Scholarship Fund. 
  • Accepted Program Open Space funding for the Nicolet and Chaptico skate park projects.
  • Approved the Waterway Improvement Fund grant award for needed repairs to the pier at Piney Point Lighthouse Museum & Historic Park.

 

The Commissioners then wrapped the meeting with Commissioner Time.

 

The Commissioners will not meet on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. The next CSMC business meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at 9 a.m. in the CSMC Meeting Room, located on the 1st floor of the Chesapeake Building at 41770 Baldridge Street in Leonardtown.
