The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office handled 1424 Calls for service, including 17 Emergency Petitions from May 13 through May 19, 2024.

 

Calls for service include requests for police assistance originating from the public as well as self-initiated events made by deputy sheriffs.

 

The Emergency Petition statute in Maryland enables the prompt evaluation of individuals experiencing a mental health crisis having the potential to harm themselves or others to be taken to an emergency facility to assess the need for immediate treatment.

5/15/25 – John Patrick Furey, 43, No Fixed Address, by Deputy Brandon Reynolds for Theft $100-$1500, CDS: Possession – Not Cannabis and CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia.

 

5/17/24 – Aaron Dwayne Johnson Jr., 27, of Lexington Park, MD, by Deputy Joseph Senatore for CDS: Possession with Intent to Distribute: Narcotics, CDS: Possession – Not Cannabis, CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia. Johnson was also arrested on a Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear: Driving Without Required License.

 

5/19/24 – Joseph James Mendoza, Jr., 24, of Great Mills, MD, by Deputy Tyler Nichols for CDS: Possession – Not Cannabis, Driving a Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol, Driving a Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol Per Se, Driving While Impaired by Alcohol and Driving While So Impaired by Alcohol Cannot Operate Vehicle Safely.
