'Glee' Is Coming Back to Disney+ And Hulu Order Reboot Of Hit Musical Comedy
Category: Entertainment
The hit musical comedy Glee is officially getting a reboot after Disney+ and Hulu ordered a new series from co-creator Ryan Murphy. The original show ran for six seasons on Fox from 2009 to 2015, following members of a high school glee club in Ohio as they navigated friendships, relationships, bullying and other social issues through music. Murphy recently completed a script for the reboot and has reportedly been in contact with around 10 original cast members, although no casting announcements have been made. The original series featured stars including Lea Michele, Jane Lynch, Chris Colfer, Darren Criss and Matthew Morrison, and won six Emmy Awards during its run. Murphy has said the show has found a new generation of young fans, prompting renewed interest in bringing it back. However, returning to the original cast could be complicated by the deaths of stars Cory Monteith in 2013 and Naya Rivera in 2020. No premiere date or further casting details have been announced. It was just revealed that Lea Michelle is returning to the role for the reboot. “She’s in,” one source said.
