Judi Dench Says Trigger Warnings Have 'Gone Too Far' And Audiences Need To Toughen Up
Category: Entertainment
At 91, Dame Judi Dench says trigger warnings at theaters have become excessive, arguing that audiences should expect productions to challenge and provoke them. The actress says warnings should be reserved for issues like strobe lights, gunshots and age restrictions, joking that warnings for Shakespeare’s Titus Andronicus could end up longer than the play itself. Dench also insists she has no plans to retire, despite vision loss caused by macular degeneration, and continues learning scripts by having friends read them aloud. She says she wants to keep working for as long as possible.
