Cars is heading back to theaters beginning September 4 to celebrate its 20th anniversary, with September 5—Lightning McQueen Day—marking the famous racer’s number, #95. Disney and Pixar are putting the pedal to the metal with celebrations throughout the year, including special screenings, museum exhibits, a life-size Lightning McQueen, and even a Cars-themed presence at Formula 1 and NASCAR events. The 2006 hit introduced audiences to Owen Wilson’s Lightning McQueen, Larry the Cable Guy’s Mater and the late Paul Newman as Doc Hudson, and went on to become one of Pixar’s most beloved franchises.
