Kit Harington Joins 'Harry Potter' Season 2 As Gilderoy Lockhart, Replacing Nicholas Hoult
Kit Harington is stepping into the role of the famously vain wizard Gilderoy Lockhart for Season 2 of HBO’s Harry Potter series, replacing Nicholas Hoult, who had to leave because of scheduling conflicts. It’s a role Harington already knows well—he recently voiced Lockhart in the Harry Potter audiobooks and has called himself a longtime fan of the books. Lockhart will be a major part of Season 2, based on Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. He was memorably played by Kenneth Branagh in the original movie. Season 2 begins filming this fall, while Season 1 of the new series is scheduled to premiere Christmas Day.
