Marvel Studios has officially announced that Black Panther 3 will hit theaters on December 15, 2028, with filming set to be shot in 70mm. The biggest reveal from Comic-Con was that David Jonsson has been cast as an adult version of T'Challa's son, who was introduced at the end of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Jonsson's character will take up the mantle of the new Black Panther. The original Black Panther, starring the late Chadwick Boseman, became a global phenomenon, earning more than $1.3 billion worldwide and becoming the first superhero movie nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. After Boseman's death in 2020, the franchise shifted to Shuri in Wakanda Forever. Now, Marvel is moving the story forward by introducing T'Challa's grown son as the next Black Panther, with the film expected to continue shaping the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Avengers: Secret Wars.
