'A Capitol Fourth' Moves To July 3rd For America's 250th Celebration With Star Studded Lineup

America's biggest Independence Day concert is getting an early start this year. A Capitol Fourth: 250th Weekend Celebration will air on July 3 instead of its traditional July 4 date to help kick off the nation's 250th birthday festivities. Hosted by Alfonso Ribeiro, the PBS special features a packed lineup that includes Alan Jackson, Patti LaBelle, Chicago, Trace Adkins, Kool & The Gang, Carly Pearce, and the National Symphony Orchestra, along with appearances by Gary Sinise and Joe Mantegna. Several artists have special patriotic performances planned. Trace Adkins will debut his new song "American Made" and honor 250 years of military service, while Carly Pearce will perform "The National Anthem" and "This Land Is Your Land." Alan Jackson will appear in a pre-recorded performance of "America the Beautiful," filmed at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium. In a special twist for the country's 250th anniversary, the show's grand finale fireworks will launch from George Washington's Mount Vernon instead of the National Mall. The commercial-free special airs at 8 p.m. ET on PBS, with streaming also available on YouTube and the American Forces Network. Organizers say the show remains proudly nonpartisan, with one goal: celebrating America's birthday through music.
