Famke Janssen isn't thrilled that she won't be returning as Jean Grey in Avengers: Doomsday. During an appearance at Spacecon 2026, the actress said Marvel "made a mistake" by not inviting her back, joking that she's terrible at keeping secrets, so fans would have known if she'd been cast. Janssen first played Jean Grey in 2000's X-Men and returned for X2: X-Men United, X-Men: The Last Stand, plus brief appearances in The Wolverine and X-Men: Days of Future Past. While several of her former co-stars—including James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn, Kelsey Grammer, Patrick Stewart and Alan Cumming—are returning for Doomsday, Janssen didn't make the cast list. The actress said fans constantly ask if Jean Grey will ever return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and admitted she's flattered the character is still so popular after all these years.
