Universal Pictures and director Michael Bay are developing a movie based on the real-life rescue mission that recovered two American pilots after their F-15E Strike Eagle was shot down behind enemy lines in Iran during Operation Epic Fury. The film will reportedly be based on an upcoming 2027 book by author Mitchell Zuckoff and will focus on the high-risk military operation carried out in Iran’s Zagros Mountains. The rescue mission successfully extracted both the pilot and weapons systems officer after the aircraft went down during combat operations. The daring recovery became international news and reportedly caught Bay’s attention as he searched for his next directing project.
