Kirsten Dunst is officially headed to the Overworld. The actress — who openly campaigned to join the franchise last year — revealed that production on A Minecraft Movie 2 is underway. Dunst posted a photo from set showing her director’s chair beside Jack Black’s, labeled with their character names Alex and Steve in classic block?letter Minecraft style. Her caption: “It has begun…..” Dunst was confirmed in March to be playing Alex, the major game character teased in the first film’s end?credits scene. She joins returning stars Jack Black, Jason Momoa, Danielle Brooks, Matt Berry, and Jennifer Coolidge. The sequel is slated for release on July 23, 2027.
