"The Price Is Right" Contestant Wins Biggest Single-Game Payout In Show's 54 Year History

A contestant on The Price Is Right just made daytime TV history with a jackpot so big it probably caused several couch viewers to throw remote controls across the room. Vanesa McCaskell, a retired Army veteran from Virginia, won more than $240,000 during the show’s Mother’s Day special — the largest single pricing-game prize in the show’s 54-year history. Her massive payday came during a newer high-stakes game called “The Lion’s Share,” where contestants can gamble their winnings for even bigger rewards. McCaskell took the risk and walked away with $227,500 in cash plus a trip to Morocco worth another $12,650. The win officially broke the previous record of $210,000 set back in 2016 on the game “Cliff Hangers.” McCaskell said the whole experience felt surreal and called the winnings “life changing.” She says she plans to invest wisely, enjoy some of it, and surprise her mom with something special.
