Mark Hamill Deletes Trump Death Post: Prefer He Be Held Accountable For His Crimes
Mark Hamill sparked controversy this week after posting — and then deleting — an AI?generated image that appeared to show President Trump lying atop a grave. The Wednesday post featured a headstone reading “Donald J. Trump, 1964–2024” with the caption “If Only”, along with a message criticizing Trump and calling for him to be held accountable for what Hamill described as “crimes.” The Trump administration’s Rapid Response account on X reposted the image and called Hamill “one sick individual,” arguing that rhetoric like this contributes to threats against the president. Hours later, Hamill deleted the original post and replaced it with a new one. In the updated version, he used a different image — Trump alive, hair blowing in the wind — and clarified that he was not wishing death on the president. Hamill wrote that he meant Trump should “live long enough to… be held accountable,” and apologized if the earlier image was inappropriate.
