NBC To Axe Another Member Of Its Flagship NFL Team After Hiring Mike Tomlin For New Season
NBC’s overhaul of “Football Night in America” continues — and fantasy football star Matthew Berry is the latest on-air personality unlikely to return next season. According to Awful Announcing, Berry — who joined NBC in 2022 after 15 years at ESPN — is expected to exit the flagship pregame show as the network continues a major talent reset. His fantasy shows on Peacock and his partnership with Rotoworld are unaffected, but his FNIA role appears done. The move comes just one day after reports that NBC has landed Mike Tomlin as its new lead NFL analyst. Networks had been competing for Tomlin ever since he stepped down from the Steelers in January after 19 seasons and a Super Bowl win. He’s expected to join host Maria Taylor, Jason Garrett, and Devin McCourty in the studio. NBC has already parted ways with Tony Dungy after 17 seasons, and the futures of Rodney Harrison, Jac Collinsworth, and Chris Simms remain uncertain. McCourty still needs a new deal as well. The network is also considering taking “Football Night in America” on the road full?time, shifting away from its Connecticut studio setup.
