Sylvester Stallone To Executive Produce Lionsgate Prequel, 'John Rambo'
Sylvester Stallone is officially involved in the next Rambo movie—but not the way fans might expect. Stallone has signed on as an executive producer for the upcoming prequel John Rambo. It’s the first time he’s ever produced a Rambo film, even though he wrote the previous five movies in the franchise, which have earned more than $800 million worldwide. The catch: Stallone won’t appear on screen. The new movie takes place before the events of First Blood, so a younger version of the character will be played by Noah Centineo. The film is being directed by Jalmari Helander and is currently filming in Bangkok. Lionsgate says bringing Stallone on as a producer was the “final piece,” since nobody knows the John Rambo character better than the guy who made the role famous 44 years ago.
