Amazon MGM Studios has picked up a new sports movie project called “Play by Play.” The script comes from writer Chris McCoy, and Jake Gyllenhaal is attached to star and produce. Details about the plot are being kept tightly under wraps — Hollywood’s favorite phrase meaning nobody’s talking yet. Gyllenhaal will produce through his Nine Stories company along with Tom Brady and filmmaker Gotham Chopra via their Religion of Sports production banner. The project continues Gyllenhaal’s busy relationship with Amazon. He previously starred in the streamer’s hit remake of Road House, which pulled in more than 50 million viewers in its first two weekends on Prime Video and already has a sequel in the works.
