Gnarls Barkley Is Back With Ode To 'Atlanta'

After nearly two decades apart, Gnarls Barkley is back. Cee Lo Green and Danger Mouse have reunited for a brand-new album called Atlanta, dropping March 6. The first single, “Pictures,” is already out — and it’s deeply personal. The track is a love letter to MARTA, Atlanta’s public transit system. Cee Lo says the song comes from his childhood, when his middle school principal would send him away every Friday. So what did eighth-grade Cee Lo do? Rode the train solo from morning until mid-afternoon, watching the city roll by like scenes from a movie. The hook reflects that — staring out the window as life moves in frames. Cee Lo grew up in the city, lost both parents young, left school in ninth grade, and eventually found his calling through church music. So this record isn’t just a comeback — it’s a homecoming. Atlanta marks the duo’s first full project since 2008’s The Odd Couple. Since then, both stayed busy. Cee Lo dropped solo music and spent years spinning chairs on The Voice. Danger Mouse kept producing and collaborating across genres. The new album reportedly features 13 tracks, including titles like “Tomorrow Died Today,” “Line Dance,” “Sweet Evil,” “Boy Genius,” and “Accept It.”
