Grandfather, 83, Who Cameoed In Taylor Swift's 'Opalite' Video Didn't Know Who She Was
An 83-year-old British granddad ended up in a blockbuster pop video — and had absolutely no clue who the singer was. Barrie Reynolds, from Kent, admitted he’d never heard of Taylor Swift before being cast as a judge in her “Opalite” music video. His granddaughters were stunned. He? Not so much. Reynolds got the gig through his acting and modeling agency, was summoned to North London at 7 a.m., couldn’t find a train — so production sent a taxi. Only after reading about her massive Eras Tour in the paper did he realize she might be kind of a big deal. In the video, Swift and Domhnall Gleeson play lonely characters who use a magical spray called “Opalite” to glow up their lives, fall for each other, and perform a full ’80s-style dance routine in front of judges — including Reynolds, who jokingly “scored her a zero.” He later dubbed her “Niftie Swiftie” because of how fast she moves. He said Swift was warm, kind, and made time to speak to everyone — though security was tight.
