An energy drink brand co-owned by Dwayne Johnson is paying up. ZOA Energy has agreed to a $3 million class-action settlement after being accused of marketing its drinks as “0 preservatives” while allegedly containing citric acid and ascorbic acid — ingredients the lawsuit claims function as preservatives. The federal complaint, filed in California in October 2023, argued that labeling the drinks as preservative-free was misleading. ZOA denied any wrongdoing and says its labeling is accurate and compliant with the law — but agreed to settle anyway. That’s corporate for, “We’d rather write a check than keep arguing.” The settlement covers anyone who bought ZOA drinks labeled “0 preservatives” between March 1, 2021, and Nov. 21, 2025.
Here’s where it gets interesting:
If you’ve got proof of purchase, you can claim $1 per can, up to $150 per household.
No receipt? You’re capped at $10. Claims have to be submitted by Feb. 20, and a final approval hearing is set for March 26.
