Daniel Radcliffe Doesn't Want New 'Harry Potter' Cast To Be Asked About Original Cast
Daniel Radcliffe has a simple request for fans as HBO launches its new Harry Potter adaptation: let the new kids breathe. Radcliffe, who played Harry across eight blockbuster films based on J. K. Rowling’s books, says he wants the incoming cast to have their own experience — without constantly being asked about him, Emma Watson, or Rupert Grint. Speaking after the new trio was announced — Dominic McLaughlin as Harry, Arabella Stanton as Hermione, and Alastair Stour as Ron — Radcliffe said fans who claim they want to “look after these kids” can start by not turning the original cast into “weird spectral phantoms” hovering over their journey. He’s even reached out privately, sending McLaughlin a letter wishing him an even better experience than he had — and Radcliffe says he had a great one.
