He was expected to appear before a judge at 3 p.m. local time. Before the arrest, witnesses told outlets that the actor had been bouncing around bars in the French Quarter and beyond since Thursday. Staff at Ms. Mae’s described him as “somewhat belligerent,” claiming he tried the classic “Do you know who I am?” line after being denied entry for showing up shirtless and without cash. He reportedly returned clothed and paid with a card but was later asked to leave for attempting to play celebrity bartender. Other bar employees alleged he was “terrorizing the city,” and TMZ footage showed him partying in the streets, wearing an oversized hat and holding a beer. He was also spotted at spots like Dos Jefes, 45 Tchoup, Brothers III Lounge, and R Bar during the pre-Mardi Gras chaos. LaBeouf has been publicly open about his sobriety journey. In 2022, he said he had been sober for over a year and a half following what he described as a “great humbling.” That same year, he spoke about his legal battle with ex-girlfriend FKA Twigs, who sued him in 2020 alleging abuse. LaBeouf denied the claims; the two reached a private settlement in 2025.
