The View Set To Be Investigated By FCC Over 'Bias' After Hosting Democrat Candidate
The president’s FCC may be lining up The View for a regulatory headache. After the show hosted Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico, FCC Chairman Brendan Carr flagged the appearance under a renewed push to enforce “equal time” rules for political candidates. Carr’s FCC says talk shows can no longer lean on a 2006 exemption that treated them as bona fide news interviews. The Talarico interview ran about nine minutes. His primary rival, Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, got 17 minutes when she appeared earlier — before the FCC’s January guidance. Disney, ABC’s parent company, didn’t file for equal-time coverage, suggesting they still believe the exemption applies. Carr’s FCC doesn’t agree and has reportedly opened a probe.
