US Flag Bearers For Winter Olympics Selected
Speedskater Erin Jackson and bobsledder Frank Del Duca have been selected as Team USA’s flag bearers for the opening ceremony of the 2026 Milan–Cortina Winter Olympics. Jackson, 33, will be competing in her third Olympic Games and made history in Beijing in 2022 as the first Black woman to win an individual Winter Olympic gold medal, capturing the 500-meter speedskating title. She called the honor of carrying the flag a reflection of her family, teammates, and the country’s belief in the power of sport. Del Duca, 34, an Army sergeant, will appear in his second Olympics and will become the first bobsledder in 70 years to carry the American flag during an opening ceremony. The moment holds special meaning for him, as his family has deep Italian roots and the ceremony will take place across multiple cities in Italy. The opening ceremony happens this Friday.
