The disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s mother is now being treated as a crime, according to Arizona law enforcement — and investigators say the circumstances are troubling. Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen around 9:30 p.m. Saturday at her home in the Catalina Foothills near Tucson. By yesterday, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said investigators found a “very concerning” scene inside the home and no longer believe she left on her own. Authorities stressed that Nancy had limited mobility and was “of sound mind”, ruling out dementia or confusion. Investigators are now reviewing security footage and asking neighbors to check Ring cameras for anything unusual.
UPDATE:
Arizona officials say they are investigating Nancy’s disappearance as a kidnapping. The Pima County Sheriff's Department in southern Arizona received a 911 call reporting Nancy was missing from her home outside Tucson around noon local time on Sunday. Yesterday, law enforcement confirmed investigators believed Nancy "was taken from the home." Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said that Nancy "didn't just walk out" of her home, which is being considered a crime scene. Nanos noted Guthrie has limited mobility and "couldn't walk 50 yards by herself."
