Vin Diesel Set To Write Mattel & One Race Films' 'Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots' In Addition To Starring & Producing
Vin Diesel just leveled up his Mattel partnership — he’s now writing the live-action Rock ’Em Sock ’Em Robots movie on top of starring in and producing it. The film will bring the classic Red Rocker vs. Blue Bomber toy brawl into a big-screen storyline. Mattel Studios chief Robbie Brenner is hyping Diesel as a storyteller who knows how to blend action, heart, and full-blown world-building. Diesel says he wants to update the toy for modern audiences by exploring competition, strength, and — curveball — compassion. The project is produced by Diesel’s One Race Films and Mattel Studios, with Samantha Vincent also producing. Mattel has been on a post-Barbie victory lap, pushing more toy properties into movies, including Masters of the Universe (2026) and Matchbox starring John Cena. Originally, Rock ’Em Sock ’Em Robots was parked at Universal, but now Diesel and Mattel are driving this thing forward themselves.
