Netflix Orders Vegas Casino Drama Series From Martin Scorsese
On the 30th anniversary of Casino, Martin Scorsese is heading back to Vegas—this time for a brand-new Netflix drama series. The show, created by Billions masterminds Brian Koppelman and David Levien, has officially been greenlit and will run eight episodes. The story is set in modern-day Las Vegas, where the casino game is still cutthroat but updated for the present. At the center is Robert “Bobby Red” Redman, the power-playing president of the hottest hotel casino in town. He’s juggling big risks, bigger enemies, and the kind of political maneuvering that makes Vegas as dangerous as ever. The project started as a loose idea brought to Netflix by producers Julie and Rick Yorn with Scorsese already attached. Netflix originally explored a period version but shifted gears after bringing in Koppelman and Levien, who pitched a contemporary casino drama. That locked in the series order. It shares a setting with Scorsese’s 1995 Casino, but it is not connected to the film or its characters. Scorsese’s only returning theme is Las Vegas itself—always a glittering trap.
