Jon Stewart Renews Daily Show Through 2026 Despite New Trump-Friendly Corporate Owner
Jon Stewart isn’t going anywhere — at least not yet. Despite rumors swirling after Paramount’s merger with the Trump-friendly Skydance Media, Comedy Central has locked Stewart into The Daily Show through 2026. Comedy Central exec Ari Pearce said Stewart’s renewal shows a continued “commitment to incisive comedy and sharp commentary,” calling it a win for both the network and its viewers. The renewal comes amid major shake-ups at the network’s parent company. Over the summer, Paramount finalized an $8 billion merger with Skydance after settling President Trump’s $16 million lawsuit against CBS’s 60 Minutes. The deal raised eyebrows — especially after CBS abruptly canceled The Late Show with Stephen Colbert just days after the host mocked the settlement as “a big, fat bribe.”
