"Jeopardy! "Issues Apology After Clue Sparks Debate Over AI-Generated Content
Ken Jennings found himself in an unusual spot — apologizing to the internet’s favorite pig-man meme, John Pork. During the October 24 episode of Jeopardy!, a clue in the category “Daddy is there really a...” described Pork as an “A.I.-generated TikTok image,” which immediately set off online confusion and backlash. Jennings even admitted on-air, “I didn’t understand any of that. Who is John Pork?” — a sentiment viewers clearly shared. Fans quickly pointed out that John Pork, the viral meme of a man with a pig’s head, actually predates modern AI. After viewers called out the inaccuracy on social media, Jennings posted a TikTok apology on November 1. He explained that while AI is often used in John Pork’s more recent videos, calling the original image “AI-generated” was misleading. “It’s possible that wasn’t the best wording,” Jennings admitted, adding with a touch of humor, “John, I hope he’ll forgive me — and all of us at Jeopardy! — for any insult to his memory.”
