CBS’ “The Road” premieres Sunday. The show is the brainchild of Blake Shelton and Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan, with Keith Urban as the headlining mentor and performer. Urban mentors 12 up-and-coming artists as they open for him on a real multi-city concert tour, where live audiences decide who moves on to the next show.
THE SHOW FORMAT: The Road ditches the studio lights for a “docu-follow” setup that tracks Urban and the contestants as they tour the U.S., hitting iconic venues in Texas, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. Think grit, long drives, and live crowds instead of glittery sets. Contestants compete for $250,000, a record deal, and a prime spot on the Stagecoach 2026 main stage. Country powerhouse Gretchen Wilson serves as the no-nonsense tour manager, keeping the artists grounded as they experience the chaos of life on the road.
